My dad has recently installed Windows 7 onto a new system he's built, everything seems to work fine, except that Windows 7 won't connect to the internet through the router I have setup for our internet use. Nothing I do will make it work with the router, but it connects just fine directly connected to the DSL modem.

The DSL modem isn't connected to the WAN plug, and if I do, I don't get any internet through the router that way.

Any ideas on how to fix this Windows 7 issue? The router is an "Airlink 101".

You sure this is a Windows 7 error? Did you have an OS on the comp. before having 7 on there? Does your ethernet card actually work?

Did you read the post before asking retarded questions? He said it was a new build. He said that it worked when directly connected to the modem.

And maybe try the Microsoft forums, people might have had a problem with the beta/RC versions with that router, OP, and posted a thread about it.

I'd say check your router. Make sure that first is working, then if it is it's time to look through the networking stack more closely.

Try logging into the router (check your router's manual for the admin access details, mine has the IP address of 192.168.1.254) and configure it with DSLs username/password?

Does the router work with other computers, or just not with this one? Do you have any other computers with Windows 7 to try out the router with?

Not sure what you mean here, but the router works fine with all the other computers.

The Windows 7 computer is the only one that won't work on it. All the other computers I've had connect to it before (Windows XP computers) worked fine with it.

What router do you have? Try searching Windows 7 forums or just use the power of Google and see if there are any incompatibilities with Windows 7. Generally speaking though, Win7 is pretty good with drivers and the like.
