Yep, I called this a while back.

Natural cycle of crap storytelling: Wizards > Werewolves > Vampires > Gay Vampires > Sparkly Vampires > Pussy Werewolves > Gay Angels > Sparkly Angels > Pussy Angels > Blaise.

The authors writing these stories are just ahead of the curve, riding the cycle started by Potter and Twilight, and the (ugh) thirst those stories created for more. If you're looking to make some money, I'd start writing about Sparkly Faeries and/or Elves now, because that's where we're heading next - mark my words.

Comparisons with the vogue for teenage stories about vampires are obvious. Just like their blood-sucking supernatural cousins, angels are half-human visitors who can both fly and usefully suggest the mysterious adult world of sexuality that lies beyond.
