Well, it's that time of year again. Towers of Midnight, the 13th book in the epic Wheel of Time saga comes out November 2nd, just 43 days away!

This is just a placeholder thread right now, I guess, but we can have some pre-dicussion.

If I remember correctly, the main focus of this book is going to be:

Mat's quest to retreive Moiraine from that tower that has the name I don't remember.

    Thoughts?

Yeah, put a big spoiler sign in the first post or thread, for those that have yet to get caught-up.

That said. 'Bout damn time they rescued my favorite Aes Sedai.

More incentive to start reading through this series again. Though I've been spoiled on most things that happen already.

I hope that someday they re-release these books with cover art that isn't terrible.

Yeah, the artwork makes me cry too.

/wonders how long it'll take to find one in Finland.

With this, I actually feel tempted to reread the entire series >_> If I have the time.

This, with the symbol in a different colour for each book, is the cover on my copies. A bit plain, some people might think, but I likes it. :awesome

All my books have different covers. Some of them have that shitty cover art but some of them are like the one CareOtters posted. I have to agree, the one with the WoT symbol is much better.

Also, awesome! Can't wait to see Moiraine back. She's going to be very pissed at the shit the whole situation has become. Also, I hope we get to see at least some reactions to Rand's...recovery I guess you could say.

Huh, I couldn't remember the name of the series, but this pretty much brought it all back.

I only got as far as finishing book 3 in this particular series before I just couldn't take it anymore. I daresay everyone likes it for different reasons but the main thing that put me off was purely the way it was written. Don't get me wrong, the language and English itself is stunning but just the way the series was written.. I probably lack the brain to get my head around something without having to read a chapter 3 or 4 times.

Sufficed to say I'm glad it's continuing despite the death of the author and might start up reading it again from where I left off when I feel ready, but for now I think i'll hold off on this and wait for Dresden instead.

Excellent. I am looking forward to this greatly. The last book was my favorite one since the beginning few books, the ones Jordan wrote before he realized he was going to write a 10+ book series. Not necessarily because Sanderson was a much better author than Jordan, but because something (even better, somethings) actually happened. It was a great feeling, especially Rand standing up to Cadsuane, finally. Hopefully this next book moves the plot along as much as the last.

And yes, CareOtters' cover is far better than the almost Baen library quality (vomit) art of the American softcovers.

You can check out Chapter Eight here. I imagine other chapters will also be posted in the lead-up to release.

Got mine on preorder already from Amazon. It's supposed to come the day its released. I suspect I'll accomplish absolutely nothing that week.

As for the rescue, it's about damn time. Moiraine disappeared in what, the 4th or 5th book? I'm kinda curious as to whether Lanfear will make a reappearance as well. It's been a while since I read the older books in the series, but I'm pretty sure she was alive when she and Moiraine went through the doorway. None of the resurrected Forsaken seem like they have Lanfear's personality, so I don't think she died on the other side either. Unless, of course, her soul (or whatever) can't be retrieved from where ever she went. Oh, and it's the Tower of Ghenjei.

Really looking forward to this, I'm also hoping for some more screen time for the Black Tower.

On the topic of covers, the new e-book ones are really nice.

Seems advance copies have gone out to some reviewers; I am so jealous.

I think Lanfear is back as Cyndane, or at least that's where the speculation lies for most people I've talked to. At one point she does talk about the Aelfinn and Eelfinn in the 9th book, indicating she's stronger since her encounter with them. Not confirmed but likely it seems.

This is pretty much confirmed, IMO. Don't remember where, but there is a POV from Cyndane (I think it's when she feels and moves to act against the Cleansing) where she thinks about how Lews Therin will not spurn her again, how she offered to stand with him against the Great Lord, and how she's going to kill him and the woman he found to work the Choedan Kal. Pretty obvious she's Lanfear reborn to me.

    EDIT: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lanfear#Cyndane

Yeah, I think even Jordan said that it was obvious Cyndane was Lanfear reincarnated.

I am so hyped for this book, it promises to be extremely good.

I'd heard the rumors, but I was hoping they weren't true. Cyndane is a whiny little bitch and Moridin has her completely under his thumb with the soul trap. I remember Lanfear being a lot more awesome.

Makes me wonder though: why is Moiraine implied to be still alive while Lanfear apparently died? Her soul was apparently retrievable (even though it was in another dimension-ish thingy). Did she piss off the Aelfinn/Eelfinn (unlikely; she isn't unintelligent)? Or did she pull a Matt, but fail at saving herself (more likely; the Forsaken seem to be weaker taveren or not taveren at all compared to Rand, Matt, and Perrin)?

@7ate9, she's my favorite Aes Sedai too.

I stopped reading after The Gathering Storm, but after viewing this thread I'll purchase the book, even though the co-author did more here than the late Robert Jordan. He did manage to pass down the key elements and plots to his family before he died.
