Library Thing is a handy little website that allows you to create a profile of books you like, and then it will recommend more based on your current library, and on what other users with similar preferences enjoyed. It's a fairly simple idea, but the execution is what's so great about it.

The community here is huge. When the website has over 10k "references" for titles to decide what a user might like, the recommendations tend to be very good.

Anyway, check it out if you're interested. I've found more than a few book series with it.

How much does this remind you of the fanfic rec engine? Was that influenced by this?

I tried LibraryThing, but prefer GoodReads. It has a larger community, and it's free. (LibraryThing charges you if you enter more than 200 books.)

It says that, but I have over 200 books on it and I've never been charged.

Hmm. I use both. I find that Goodreads have better decriptions and reviews, but that Library Things automated recommendations are so nice to have.
