My mother and I each own a Toshiba Satellite L500-247. Batteries have both gone to shit recently and we're looking to get new ones. My question here is this: Are all L-500 batteries the same and can I just get another one, or are they each unique? Because as far as I know, the L500 line got discontinued and I'd like to know if my search is going to be wider or narrower than expected.

Greatly appreciate any and all useful responses. :)

I own a toshiba too L670 and what I heard/experienced that all toshiba batteries are shit.
You should look into an alternative solution.

Sadly, the financial situation doesn't allow for a complete replacement. Thanks anyway. :sherlock:

I think what HoS is suggesting is that you get a generic (non-Toshiba) brand battery. I'm not sure how readily available they are, if at all. If you know someone who's handy with a soldering iron you may be able to change the battery cells inside the case. Not a job for a first timer.

Oh, I'm not risking that at all. :sherlock:

Also, to add to my era of misery, Kaspersky says my databases are corrupted and I can't seem to either update or roll-back to previous updates. FML? Yes, I think so.
