So this is a pretty old film, but I saw it just a few days ago, and thought it was really good.

It is, I suppose, mainly a romance. But there's also an element of politics to it, and a lot of pageantry. In this year of royal shenanigans, seems appropriate.

Also, Emily Blunt as Queen Victoria suddenly introduces the idea of a hot Queen Victoria. Wuuuut.

If you enjoy stuff involving aristocratic titles and styles and all that shit (yes, Sesc, I'm talking to you), you'll probably love this.

Also: anyone know any other films like this? That is, drama films focusing on the British Monarchy that are mostly historically accurate? I remember seeing a trailer for a movie about Queen Elizabeth that featured her in armour riding a horse into battle. Not films like that.

Did some google-Fu. Really, really, really wish I hadn't. I found a film like that.

Sacha Baron Cohen to play Queen's Freddy Mercury in Biopic from Frost/Nixon writer Peter Morgan.

Like I needed more reason to hate Cohen with a fiery passion.

    The Queen was indeed awesome.

The Duchess wasn't bad from what I remember. Again, not sure about the accuracy.
