I just made one, it wouldn't even be half as good without the tutorial. :D

I'm using Photoshop CS2, but I only started about a week or two ago and this is like my 3rd signature so it's pretty crap compared to yours.

Uhh, how do you post a image again?

Edit: I got it, here it is.

Question, are you using cs2 or the new cs3 beta?

I just started using CS2, but CS works just as well, and the versions before also, the options are just shifted around a little bit.

For those of us without $650 for a copy of photoshop or cant be bothered to steal it like the rest of you (not that I'm morally opposed to it, I do it for everything else), any other graphic creation tools you'd reccomend? Have you used the GIMP?

My custom web graphics experiance is pretty much just MS paint and the default MS photo editor that comes with XP, but I do understand the process (brushes, layers, transparencies, effects...) enough to give it a shot. I am very good with AutoCAD and "engineering graphics" packages though. I can produce blueprints from specifications in a jiffy but "rendering" and "masks" are a touch over my head at the moment.

Apparently Gimp is good, i have had limited experience with it, but it seems to measure up to Photoshop quite well, although you'll have to find the options yourself if you'd still wana use this tutorial. o.o

Right, I'm only doing this cause Jon said he wouldn't make me a Death Note sig unless I tried this tutorial :(

Don't like it much, too dark. I don't have any text styles I would've liked to use, so I just put a pic of a death note in there. Meh-ish at best, in my opinion.

    :D Now where's ma sig bish?! :D

Heres my attempt. The border kept screwing up the size of my background for some reason. You can see the white spaces on the top left and the left side. Oh well.

I wasn't able to do a few things, like the marquee part, because I'm using GIMP. It's fairly easy to use, and I've managed to make a few sigs with it. This is probably my best one though.

Anyways... Great tutorial Surrarin. The few other tutorials I've read all use the layer>colors>color balance tool to create the colors. I like this way much better.

    +Rep

Edit: Can't get the image the right size for some reason... It should be in my sig, but I don't see it this post. Wierd.

As someone elightened me to a nifty trick, I'll try this with CS3 and see what happens.

Surprisingly enough it worked. I hope they fix that before the final version of CS3 gets released otherwise they're just not even trying anymore.

I'll post the results when I'm done.

Edit;[IMG] Crappy but oh well, I'm new. [IMG]

I can help a bit with GIMP (it being the only program I use, being on Linux) if you need it.

If there's enough demand I'll write a quick intro for it in this section.

Danke Middy :D I tried uploading it in PNG and GIF, but one utterly failed and the other kept that annoying white stroke-like effect. I would've tried a green background ... but I'm lazy :) I'll resize it some time tomorrow, but it's late for me, so meh.

    EDIT: Gave it another shot:
Much better, in my opinion :D

Does anyone know a good place to get Death Note renders? I've been looking for some, but the few I've found aren't all that great.

NP. I wound up having to remove the hazy white outline, and I couldn't get it looking right the way i wanted, so I added DLp's color as the back and touched it up a hair more.

How's this? I'm a total dunce as far as photo-editing is concerned, so I was rather proud of this little "Shakugan" sig.

My first sig attempt. I think it's just a little too dark. But I like it. Made using a tutorial I found elsewhere, as I don't have photoshop (I use GIMP).
