Summary: Harry Potter has just received his Hogwarts letter, but really doesn’t want to go. After all, who would want to live on a planet of all things? Especially one where the inhabitants still think nuclear energy is an advanced technology. And let’s not forget the 42,000 light year commute.

After nearly two years of absence, he's back from the grave with a brand new story!

It looks really promising so far, even if I didn't read the novel this story crosses over (Iain M. Bank's Culture serie). Despite the very good start, there's too little written (2k words so far) to give any critique. I hope to see more soon.

Nice start but it's clearly not enough to form an opinion.
Good to see Ruskbyte back too. :) It's been what, nearly 2 years?
P.S. Yeah, and it would certainly help to read those "Culture" novels...

As stated, not really enough to it to rate it.

For some reason, though, I can't seem to muster up the same enthusiasm for this fic that his reviewers on FFA and FFNet seem to have. I used to be somewhat of a fan of Ruskbyte, but I guess I've, I dunno, moved on. I just can't see this one ending well.

The idea of using aliens to supercharge Harry into enlightened!Harry has been done before with other verses, nothing really original with that. I'm just happy that Ruskbyte's posted something new! :p

Iain M. Banks is a great author, admittedly, I haven't read any of his Sci-fi books, so I don't really know much about the 'Culture' series, but 'Espedair Street' by him, is a favourite of mine.

Anyway, like people have already stated, not enough to comment, but so far, it sounds promising.

    So, effectorized or knife missiled?

Edit: Or a Mind convinces Tom Malarvo Riddle to kill himself.

Wow. Ruskbyte is back; that's certainly good to know, even if this story is still too premature to tell anything from. I'm thinking it's probably going to end up as a 4 or 5, based on the author alone, so I'll do it now to save myself time later.

Too short to tell how good this'll be.

For those who don't know what the Culture is... well, suffice to say their scout ships can blow a planet to pieces with their engines. Additionally, large battles involving hundreds of ships end in maybe a few hundred milliseconds over battlefields of light-days (Distance measurement). The "Drone" that was featured? Could probably singlehandedly take the entire planet's combined armed forces in a stand-up fight, and it's an outdated civilian model. Not to mention the militarized mind-control devices (Mounted on every ship) they have that have a top range measured in light-hours. In real time.

AIs: The ones that control ships? They're so far beyond human level intelligence it's not even funny. The typical hobby of one of the Minds (So they call themselves) is to simulate an entire randomized universe, then try to work out its physical principles from nothing. Seriously.

As for what civilian life is like, well, the Culture is post-industrial. With a nigh-unlimited energy budget. Lifespans are as long as the individual desires. Diversions and games include everything you can think of. Everything. Though, if it involves harm to a living being, you are strongly encouraged to do so in virtual reality. Why anyone in their right minds would go back to Earth I have no idea.

I'm not honestly sure how there'll be any conflict at all. Still, this is Ruskbyte, so I'll keep my eyes on it.

    EDITs: Clarification.

I knew you knew, this was just for the uninformed. Just so they have an idea just what a mismatch this is.

I think this will be more inclined to humor than an actual plot. Full of minds ordering Death Eaters to suicide, Harry towing the moon at Relatavistic speed...

And then tossing it at Voldemort.

Or moments when Harry/Wizarding World don't quite understand each other...

Because all it will take is a single Knife Missile on a mission to teach Voldemort who's who, and that's not all that much conflict.

This story is looking fantastic so far, then again I wasn't expecting anything else from Ruskbyte. It's keeping me entertained, and is very well written. I'll read on with much enthusiasm, as long as he doesn't turn Voldemort into some technical guru, just to create conflict.

I'm going out of a whim here, and giving this story 5/5.

Ok, this is getting even better than I thought.
5/5 Knowing Rusk I'm pretty sure it won't get worse.
P.S. I'm so getting my hands on Culture books.

Very intriguing. I want to see more before I can draw a more accurate conclusion, as do most others here, but I say a 5/5 for sheer entertainment.

On a side note, the Culture books do look very promising. I'm off to buy them. Who said that fanfiction doesn't profit?
