I'm currently watching it and I have to say:

Take Law and Order. Lower the budget. Add a little sex. And a tiny bit of magic and you have the show.

I know some people like it (Nuhuh) but it doesn't really do it for me.

They casted Susan terribly, Murphy terribly, Dresden isn't too bad albeit nothing like how I pictured him.

I like Morgan, probably all it's really got going for it besides the numerous hot girls that show up in Dresden's life.

Chances on it being brought back to the air, maybe even with a higher budget?

 

Murphy was pretty awesome in this. If she had stayed as Susan, as she was originally cast, I would have started liking her in the books.

Either way she is a good actress and played that role well.

Susan is dumb ho in books and tv show.

The guy doing Dresden imo did a great job too, yes slightly different from the books, but very close to how he is in Storm Front.

I could never really get into the TV series. It screwed around with too many things for me to think of it as an actual 'Dresden Files' show. Like Ancient Mai, who may or may not be a dragon, and has the ability to transport whole apartments to Hell... literally.

I missed a few things I didn't like.

HATED HATED HATED Bob. God damn. Terrible.

Bit different, Nuh. Rahkesh is in a fanfiction. If they made a HP TV Show and casted Rahkesh as HP I would be pissed

Hated the hockey stick. Jesus that's so stupid. Blasting Rod sucked too.

Harry is a pussy, he just gets the shit kicked out of him. In the books, sure he gets beat up a lot but he ALWAYS fights back.

 

I think they were trying to go for a bit of realism there (snort), as to how a man carrying a hockey stick might get less noticed than one with a six-foot tall ash staff.

He didn't have one did he? Just a silly drum stick, right?

Harry is also shown mostly as a pre storm front, up to storm front wizard, when he was relatively weak. Plus he uses his mind and wit, the episode with Anubis thing he was pretty powerful, the show with Bianca he had damn fine skill using remnants of emotions to divine the killer, etc.

They didn't show him pick up two cars and smash someone, or fire stream someone to death, but that is probably cgi limits.

I hates no-chest Bianca.

 

I loved tv!Bob to te point of now hearing his voice when reading the character in the book. Paul Blackthorne was a great Dresden and what Valerie Cruz lacked in appearance she more than made up in acting.

That said, the show's story could have used a bit more work.

 

I loved the series because it was my introduction to DF. Sure the books are alot better but thats like saying sex is better than a blowjob. You still don't refuse either one if it's offered.

I actually liked tv!Morgan, tv!Bob reminded me of that floaty skull thing in Planescape Torment not very cool.

 

I read the books first, then moved onto the tv series, so the books will always be my preferred series. I got really annoyed by all the small differences that did nothing for the plot, and were just...random.

I have to admit to liking tv!Bob as a character, but the books Bob was better for the actual role.

The thing that really disappointed me in the TV series was that there was so little magic used. Harry comes across as a looser who is a bad PI, not as a decent PI who turns into a very good PI because he can use magic like he is in the books.

 

Morena Baccarin had a very nice bust, where as all the head shots in Bianca in the show hid her no chest status until a following episode.

They suckered us in.

 

If the tv show had had a good budget, it'd of rocked. They just made bad calls. Storm Front was good, so good by comparision the rest of the episodes sucked.

 

Mid, did you see the short version of it or the two-hour version?

I don't know where the latter is, I want to check it out.

Dam, I'm getting the first season right now D;. This is my first foray into The Dresden Files, is it good? When i first read the summary i went WTF. Harry Dresden and wizard? Shouldn't J.K be suing (like the bitch she is)?

The originally made the 2 hour length Storm Front episode to be the pilot, but for some reason they switched it out.

They ended up gutting it and making it a regular episode. It was still good though.

 

I loved Murphy in the show. And Morgan, the actor made me hate him even more.
There was lots of stuff i didn't like though, ancient Mai as Mordecai said, what's up with her? And what about Harry's car, he didn't driver a jeep in the books, right?

 

They couldn't fit the cameras needed in the Blue Beetle, so they gave him an old jeep instead.
