I was looking for fics where Voldermort or Dumbledore have started their Hogwart years. I have read a few fic's in the General Section of the Library.

If someone could point me to a C2 or fanfiction regarding this category.

Indeed it 'tis. My initial reaction wasn't very....pleasant.

 

I know of a story called the 'Everlasting Flame' or something like that which is Super!Albus and was interesting to me when I was first into fanfiction.

 

Does this even exist? I mean, canon!Dumbledore was super!Dumbledore...

There are quite a few Tom Riddle era fics out there, much less Dumbledore ones. "Albus Dumbledore and the Phoenix Feather" I believe is the first fic in a series following Dumbledore's Hogwarts years. The writing was quite good, if I remember correctly, but the story itself was a little bland. I also believe that this is the story that Mirkwood is referring to: Everlasting Flame may be the name of the author, or the name of the second fic in the series.

Tome Riddle fics...most of them are abandoned or WIP. Try DarkSyaoran's Terrible but Great or maybe Welcome to Hogwarts 1949. The second has a relatively poor quality of writing, but makes up for it in characterisation and atmosphere.

A good fic that is set in the Harry Potter era but revolves around Tom Riddle's school days is What Lies Beneath by MasterSlytherin. This has the benefit of being complete.

 

Yes, but in his first or second year he manages to defeat some super mythical being or some sort, can't remember and he is some brilliant guy in first year.

Not read it for a long long time, but I remember he finds fawkes in some hidden city or something which he discovers before he even goes to school.

 

I thought 5 times before I even posted this, but the benefits outweigh the flame I might get.

I have read Terrible But Great And other fic's already in the Library. I just wanted to know if their were some other fic's or C2 I missed.

I am more interested in Voldermort history than anyone else. It would be pretty interesting with his dark background and almost prodigal skills.

Even Dumbledore has a dark background as shown in DH . So he might be an interesting character too while he was in Hogwarts.

Since when did Dumbledore and Riddle go to school together? Total canon timeline massacre.

 

I think that the OP was implying fics from the two different era's, and not insisting that they are from the same generation; hence why the replies focus on the school years of Tom OR Dumbledore.

I must admit that when starting out in FanFiction I visited the section on Mugglenet, or was it HPANA? Anywho, I have neither the drive nor time to search for it on FF.net, but I once read a story names 'Albus Dumbledore; Journey to Greatness' or something of the like. I must admit that the writing was coherent and the storyline somewhat gripping, focussing on the pressures young Albus was under from his family life and his strive to be great; the major bonus is that this is an old fic, so thankfully did not include some APWBD/GG butsecks... Minus is that it didn't have the manipulative/slightly darker side to his character which I have grown to appreciate when done properly (so fucking overdone with tantrum-throwing 150+ year old wizards at the moment).

I can't stand Riddle-centric fics, but that may just be my dislike of his character in both cannon and most fannon. But yeah, that Dumbledore fic did interest me for a while.

@OP: I wonder if you've read Sophiax's 'The Right Hand Path'. It's an AU where Merope Gaunt survives to raise Tom. But make no mistake, the Tom Riddle here is slowly but surely turning into the brilliant, cunning and perhaps ruthless leader that he is in canon. The author probably wants to show how divergent paths can still come to the same conclusion after all.

That said, I must say that The Broken Victory is probably one of the best, if the not the best retelling of Tom Riddle's tale around, along with I Am Lord Voldemort.

But for certain it has the best summary I've seen in my history of reading fanfics.
