My wife for some reason pronounced Voldemort as "Voldermont". I have no idea where she got that from.

I actually pronounced Voldemort with the silent T at the end before I saw the movies because that's how Jim Dale pronounced it in the audiobook, and it took a while for the hard T to become... not weird. AND THEN JK comes out and reveals that it was Voldemore all along.

I don't know how to pronounce Blaise.
Is it "Blaze", or "Blay"? Blaze sounds stupid -- like something a stoner would name their kid -- but Blay doesn't fit the spelling. I just don't know. Many hours have been spent pondering this.

It is. There's a car lot out here and the guy's name 'Blaise Alexander' is pronounced 'Blaze' in the tv commercials

It was mentioned in the first page, up until the first movie came out I thought hermione's name was pronounced "her-my-own"
up until a year ago I pronounced it azkabam, facepalm moment when I realized it edit- also thought it was "Seveerus" Quote:

Harry Potter and the Forests of Valbone just reminded me that I used to think Arthur's car was called the Angila.

I've always read it as 'Blaze' - strange I didn't have any problems with that name, when I did with Hermione's.
Maybe 'cause I was more literate when HBP came out, I'unno.

I used to think that Ginny was pronounced Jin-ee and even argued with my sister about it when we were little. The movies set me right though.

TBH, I still pronounce it as Jin-nee despite knowing it's wrong. Pronounced with a "g" rather than a "G", if you get what I mean.

I used to think that the cauldrons they use for potions are the big ones that are like three or four feet high.

Same. Really, that's still the mental image I have. I don't know if the books specify the exact size but the small movie ones do make some sense. :P

...Fuck. I don't even know anymore.
![]() *does brief google search* First site linked says it's pronounced JIN-ee and I'm going with that. Perhaps I've been confusing it with the Japanese pronunciation of 'Gin'.
