LOL!! You read my story? That's awesome! I'm currenty writing a sequel, which is more realistic, my writing ability has improved, though it's not as good as "The Girl in the Tower" in terms of plot. At least so far. I just finished a chapter where the characters learn that the spell books they made have all been stolen...

It's easy for tastes to change when there are so many fics out there to read. Mine's pretty original I think, but I don;t read fan fic, so I'm not the best judge. I only know what my readers tell me.
