Why I wont buy EVGA again

So here's what I've been up to while you guys got to have fun =/

My Evga 680i board took a shit for no apparent reason, trying to get it RMAed turned into a nightmare.

All those little areas circled in yellow contain areas where the PCB board looks like someone held a heatgun, or a soldering gun on the back of it. It looks like Frankensteins freaking monster back there! It is EVERYWHERE on the back of the board.

After I saw that, I called my wife and grabbed the digicam to take shots, this is unfreaking real. Over a week of nonstop calls and emails AGAIN, this is what EVGA sends me to replace the board that died and took my RAM with it. A board that looks like it's been toasted with a lighter in at least 10 major spots/.

I figured, hey, maybe it'll work that must be where EVGA fixed it since it's a refurbished board.
Nope. Outside the box sitting in the plastic clamshell you guys sent it to me in, hooked the heatsink to it, brand new ram, and "--"

So hey figuring I'd save myself a 30 minute drive, I get on the phone with a John with your tech help after waiting for 20 minutes. I proceed to ask him for a supervisor, he wastes 10 minutes of my life having me explain the issue. He then has me hold for another 15 while I'm transferred to a supervisor. After 15 minutes MatthewP picks up the phone, at which point I explain it again for 10 minutes, but hey I found out he's not a supervisor. Thanks John, glad to have blow so long with ya buddy.

I've already shipped back the board you guys sent me last time, that didn't even make it 170 hours, so that's in the mail back to you. Am I going to have to register this junker to my name, and pay for the shipping upgrade again, or if someone going to make this right, right now? I seriously fished a computer out of the trash and fixed it to give to charity a few months ago, that didn't have a motherboard that looked THIS bad, and that freaking thing had a Pentium 3 chip in it.

Here's my reply to one of their folks who claimed that those shitty boards were normal. Bullshit. Oh yeah, and it killed fucking ram I paid 300$ last year. Win huh.

Not to mention if it was commonplace, You would think Shane, John, or Matthew could of told me that in my freaking out phone call or email about the topic? Also, my friends have gotten RMA board from you guys as recent as 5 months ago, and theirs didn't look like that man.

So, Shane's overnighted me another board to test. I immediatley called once I took it out of the box, even prior to clamshell opening, as it's in nearly the same shape.

My conversation with Matthew was alright, he notified me that he'd spoke to UK.Cobra earlier in the day about it, and that he'd forwarded my thread to his superior and they'd be contacting me. You'd think if it was common, he would of mentioned it instead of saying he understood why I was upset and someone would hustle on it. Or heck if he forgot to tell me, you'd think he'd of told Cobra it was common.

As for the emails I was told to forward, I'm glad I bothered to type out nice ones, as 1 person bothered responding out of the 4 folks I was told to CC. And that was your website complaint person, who promptly told me what summed up to be, "If you have to RMA after only 4 months, it's probably your fault" as he went in a round about way of saying, check your powersupply, check your stuff, etc, etc. You know, like when you call tech support for a Gateway computer for Vista crashing, and they ask you if the power cord is plugged into the wall. Fun stuff, when the techs talk down to you.

So, now I've got a board that works. It only cost me 2 weeks of calling, and emailing, around $1100 of lost time from my 2nd job and gas, another what, 20-30 bucks when I register this board tonight to have the superduper fast shipping applied, which still won't matter, as any RMA I've done thus far has gotten stuck in your system for at least 5 business days

I can't put a price on the frustration of being bounced around your call center, or being told, hey we'll email you when you need to get online to enter your credit card info. That'd be awesome... if I had a PC at home to enter it from. Matthew asked me if there was anything he could do to make this better, and I had to honestly answer him, nothing he could personally do. If EVGA's stance is this junk that looks like solder, and spots where the trace/leads on the board look burnt and/or thinned out is normal and acceptable, he can't make it better.

Thank you Shane for your help, you were awesome. Thank you to the rest of you who did not bother to do anything but offer to transfer me to a supervisor, then leave me on hold for 20 minutes. Or who told me they'd email a super, who'd get back to me in a few minutes. I enjoy sitting at home next to a phone, it made me remember high school days.

I'll be doing some research on the newer boards and I plan to not do business with EVGA again other then what I hope doesn't occur: RMAs. Not from the board being screwy, but from the run around customer service, and from being ignored. Sucks, I liked the step up program.

So, that's what I've been up to. Expensive fucking holiday from the game huh. Fuck EVGA in the ass with a glass dildo. This board runs hotter then anything I've seen, and the flipping led readout's broken. Joy.

I feel you pain middy, I am currently trying to get the people who published my text book to get their links to work so that I can actually get to work...

So far, I haven't had the shit that you have gone through. They did put my instructor on hold for 30+ minutes today, and sent me an email asking for the same information that I put in the 2 previous emails I sent them...

Is this problem just with EVGA boards, or is the 680i chipset(?) just fucked over?

I enjoy sitting at home next to a phone, it made me remember high school days.

680i evga boards have issues, I think it's mostly in the bios, but god knows you'll never get them to admit it. Swapping to a xfx of bfg bios fixes the fsb holes supposedly, but I cbf to try it.

It's just a case of pathetic customer service.
