    Yep, I called this a while back.

    Natural cycle of crap storytelling: Wizards > Werewolves > Vampires > Gay Vampires > Sparkly Vampires > Pussy Werewolves > Gay Angels > Sparkly Angels > Pussy Angels > Blaise.

    The authors writing these stories are just ahead of the curve, riding the cycle started by Potter and Twilight, and the (ugh) thirst those stories created for more. If you're looking to make some money, I'd start writing about Sparkly Faeries and/or Elves now, because that's where we're heading next - mark my words.

    Comparisons with the vogue for teenage stories about vampires are obvious. Just like their blood-sucking supernatural cousins, angels are half-human visitors who can both fly and usefully suggest the mysterious adult world of sexuality that lies beyond.

    "I had this idea that I thought was really original," said Weatherly, "and then it seems that everyone else had the same idea at the same time, although hopefully not with angels being evil."

    Oh, come on! This lying sack of shit just took Vampire, slapped Angel over its name, and swapped out blood for emotional lust!

    My faith in humanity just dropped a little lower.

    Doesn't come as a surprise at all. Ugh, this shitstorm's been brewing since HP first became mainstream. People want more, so others, desperately in need of literary bloodmoney, write more.

    Just because people really want it, doesn't make it any good. This just means there's a lot of stupid people out there.
