Well, it's not a plot bunny, it's just an idea if you're doing something like Harry controlled by someone or just someone being controlled in general.

Most authors write control with Imperius, some kind of potion or by threatening loved ones. I came up with an idea to use for another way.

Say you drug that person and I mean drugs as in cocaine LSD or something addictive maybe an addictive potion. And then when the one you're going to control gets addicted you come to him and offer another dose, ofcourse since he 'needs' it he'll do anything for it.

I've talked with an ex-drug addict once and he told me that when you're addicted and then go for a long time without a dose, you could do anything even kill just for a small dose.

So I think this is an original way to have someone like Bella controlled in those H/Bella fics that have Imperiused!Bella. It could also explain some of her craziness not only on dementors but on withdrawal.

Let me know if this has been done before and what do you think of it?

 

Its a reasonable idea, that as far as I know is at least mostly original. it would be fairly good, if you were doing Voldemort as an intelligent cunning guy, rather than an insane dark lord who kills everyone in sight for the sheer hell of it.

It would also be a good way of demonstrating a manipulative evil Dumbledores ruthlesness. Have him have Snape addicted on something perhaps or something. Maybe Sanpe and Filch are addicts, they both are rather sour.

 

I was mulling over that plot-bunny for some time... The problem is, if it's a muggle drug (heroine, cocaine), then magic should be able to fix that, and if it's a magical drug... well, the same thing.

If it's about Bella being under drug, than it could be some devilish thing that Salazar had made and only Voldemort and Harry can access/manipulate (thus Harry takes over Bella's 'maintaince')...

All in all, it's cool idea.

 

It's avery interesting idea but as IP said, I'm not sure how that'd work. Plus the length of tim taken for it to be implemented would be unfavourable for anything other than a novel-length piece.

 

What if it wasn't a muggle drug, but a potion that supercharges/energizes a persons magic giving the feeling of unlimited power. This would fit the persona of death eaters as, well, they want nothing but power and it would be easy for one to become addicted to it.

Explanation for potions effects - If the person had enough magic to use it constantly for an hour the potion would force their magic to constantly release itself for 10mins, trading stamina for temp power. Downside is the person is left in a daze unable to do anything because they are completely intoxicated by the feeling of power. That would stop it from being used in combat.

You could tie in IP82s idea by, say, having it that the potion process requires parseltongue chanting so only Harry could make it.

Redeemed Bella defeats the whole point of her character. Readers like her cause she's an evil psychotic bitch.

But seriously, drugs should be used more in fanfics. I'm gonna add it to mine.

i think it's a pretty good idea, but i agree with amersion that t shouldn't be used on bella, it could work but it wouldn't really be very realistic. To be honest i think it would be most likely to be used by impulsive gryffindors when they 'were just having some fun at a party and got addicted'. I think a lot of the slytherins may be too smart and cunning to become dependant on any drug, especially the powerful and skillful 'inner-circle' death eaters.

 

Well, Kane, you don't really choose to get addicted or not, let's say they force you to take a pill, and you get addicted. You can't say "Hell no! I aint gettin' addicted, biatch!" 'Course there's about 7% chance that you won't get addicted. And no, I'm not saying to use it on Bella, I just used it as an example for those few at FF that used something like Imperius to have her controlled, 'cause I think someone from a Dark family would have enough strenght of will to resist it. And those who write Bella as under Imperius, that just proves that she's got a lot of will, 'cause not many would opose their family, and why else would she need to be kept controlled? Hope I made sense

Well...if she had a lot of will, she should be able to break the curse. If she cuodn't break it with 20 years of the curse, then she's weak willed, considering that dementors probably eroded at the curse while she was in azkaban.

you can, going with amerision's comment, have Evil!Harry make Bella his lieutenant after killing Voldemort by providing 'Slytherin's Potion' to her. He oculd fuck her, make her work for him...it would all be good for him.

Hehe...i can picture it:

Bella: I'll kill you, itty-bitty Potty!

Harry: (holds out vial of electric green potion) Whos a good doggy? That's right! Bella's a good doggy!

Bella: Master!

Harry: Word up, bitch.
