This is a post GOF fic, so it's pretty old; actually it was the first Harry Potter fic I ever read, and to this day remains one of my favorites. Despite the rampant hatred against Ginslut in these forums (it wasn't so ingrained back then), please give this one a try. It has martial arts practitioner Harry, without it being completely stupid, like all the fics I read so far.

 

I remember reading this. The first part, with Harry running away, training martial arts with that OC and beating Snape and other Order members was great. But later on, it went straight to Sucktown, what with H/G and bunch of mushy, friends 4ever bullshit...

This could have turned into something like Make A Wish and became a legend. Instead, it slipped back to Hogwarts in-canon crap fest and faded into obscurity... Ah well...

 

Actually, many people still remember this fic.

And i don't think it went downhill like you said. I remember that Dumbledore is porttrayed here as a manipulative SoB, in a time when most still viewed him as everybody's grandpa; Harry thinks independently, and I really liked the ending.

As for the whore, grin and bear it; at least they didn't procreate

 

Dunno, I know I dropped it at some point, probably when Harry went back to Hogwarts and started angsting after his friends or something, but I can't seem to remember exactly why... or when.

 

I think you should read at least the last three or four chapters; at the very least it's original, even if it includes a final battle like scene.

 

I didn't like it very much. I thought quite a lot of it was unrealistic or unlikely from the very beginning, but i tried to give it a chance so i read on until chapter three. I stopped there, i didn't really want to force myself to read anymore. I might have a look at those final chapters, like hellsing boy suggested if i get bored later.

 

I read this a couple years ago, nicely done, but not one of my faves. A good read when nothing else is available.

 

It's been awhile since I have thought about this fic, but I'm pretty sure I was in the IP82 camp here. I stopped reading it about the time Harry goes back to Hogwarts. He was doing so well setting Snape up, beating the shit out of him, learning on his own, then his personality back-flipped a bit and he went back to Hogwarts. It seemed too much out of character for me to keep going.

It was probably one of the first fics I read were he left the country and really struck out on his own(ie didn't bring along any of the Hogwarts crowd).

 

Yeah, I remember this. I followed this for a while- when the ManipDumbles wasn't so vast yet. I did like it. But it did kinda fade into obscurity. It so coulda gone better.

 

This story was old two years ago =/

 

Positively ancient.

 

Hmm... Starts out with one of voldimort's lackies using a bomb to destroy #4, and Voldimort using his magic and 'stolen blood' to make a perfect Potter clone when he realizes that harry wasn't home at the time.

Chapter two, paragraph one: Everyone's bawling their eyes out except Dumbledore who knows harry has run away and is calmly telling fawks not to retrieve him yet, and Snape who is an annoying, insulting bastard toward him even after his 'death'.

a couple of paragraphs later we find out this is a 'Harry in foreign countries having a remarkable time and many odd coincidences' story.

Alright for what it is I suppose, but not really library quality. Seems kinda 'Mr. Black' crackfic-ish
