Independant (stick the god!Harry and strong!Harry in here, most of the Azkaban fics can fit in here, otherwise make a seperate cat for them like here)

Alternate Universe (any Snape is Harry's dad shit, or normal AU trash)

A search function with a ship subcategory option, slash being a check box like we talked about

An option to sort by fic size, <10K, <20K, <50K, <100K, >100K

 

Also have OC as a ship alternative.

A checkbox for completed stories would be good too.

 

Stuff like FF.net 's favorite stories list, and for the ones you haven't added to your favorites list, an option to mark a story read up to chapter ___ so you can come back to it later, if you don't feel like getting updates emailed to you.

Alot of stories that I've read I haven't cared enough about to favorite list it, or email notify, but I find them every few months or so and read the newer chapters and wind up rereading it all to figure out where I left off.

Recommendation ratings along with reviews... and maybe an ability to sort by recommendation score or whatnot

 

That'd be cool, show a overall ratings average or something at the edge of the stories title, currently ff.net only shows the number of reviews, which unless you upate like a madman, or contain H/DM slash or H/GW you get shit in the number of reviews so ppl tend to skip the story thinking it isn't as good (i'm guilty of this myself)

 

guilty of it as well sometimes when im just too ... blah.. to be buggered with stuff...

another idea i thought of... why not add a Admin Story of the week and month type thing if youre planning to employ the DLP staff to patrol the site

 

A story is 100 chapters long. You think it's decent, but don't want to bookmark it (I had over a thousand stories before I trashed my bookmark folder) and you don't want to be email alerted or add it to your favorites.

You mark it read up to chapter 35, and come back at a later date to mess with it.

Maybe add a section for stories that are not Harry centric, i personally don't like reading stories from another point of view.

 

could just be as simple as a checkbox that'd set a site specific cookie with an infinite expiration date, or an option to save the cookie elswhere on the PC so it'd never clear?

As for milestones, consider the dropdown box getting slash stories tucked away and hidden your first damned milestone, heh

 

I'd also like to see a way to respond to reviews without having to write them into the body of your story. I've seen this done on sites like Harrypotterfanfiction.net where you can respond to each review individually and it is shown below the actual review.

Another thing that would be good would be a download chapter/story function.

I like to read stories on my pda when I go to school and instead of ctrl-c ctrl-v into a word doc it would be good to just download it directly or if you could open a new page with just the chapter in.

I don’t know if more people do like me but if they do it would be a good feature.

 

I think for this, youd prolly wanna get the authors permission first ... so add a n option to deny/approve of this option when uploading chapters and stories maybe... or something like that...

i know master elderon or whatever the guys name was got irked about people doing that or something...a piss poor reason to quite but *shrugs* yeah... you get the point... safety measures and what not...
