I've been having a lot of fun with Kaniels IRC thread in Support, but realized that we didn't really have a thread for the different tips we've all picked up using IRC as long as (some of us) have been.

DLP IRC started on Scifi-fans.net around Late February, Early March of 2006 (if memory serves me) with Midknight, Raven, Sree, Murton, MrMucus, myself, Chronic, DGD, LINKed_up (later), Apocalypsemeow, Cervus, and Sera/LT2000/Lord Serapheth or whatever the fuck he's calling himself this month.

(there might be others, but that's all I can remember.)

Anyway, given that - by that alone - some of us have been using it for a year flat or more and I'm fairly sure we've all found something useful that suited us.

So if you want to share, please use this format:

To start:

Program: mIRC.

Trick:

• Open up Scripts Editor.
• Click the "Alias" tab.
• Type in bind <key> <command>
  • Example: bind F2 /ns identify tespassword
• Now I could go back into mIRC, connect to DLP.net, and press F2 - Instantly identifying my nickname and keeping me from needing to type the command every time.

Program: Works on all, service default (ie, global command, works on any server with nickserv)

Tip: Type /ns help register and use the format detailed.

For irc.darklordpotter.net, the format is /ns register (password) (email)

Sample example: /nick Xiph0 (changes my nick to my forum one)

/ns register FakePass fake@gmail.com

Tip: /ns ghost <nick> <password>

Example: /ns ghost Xiph0 TestPass. Testpass, being the password I registered my nickname with, will disconnect anyone using "Xiph0" from the server and allow me to take the nickname back.

Tip:

Download NNScript. It takes a lot of things above that are commands, like binding keys, and puts it into a GUI (Graphical User Interface).

Beyond that, it gets rid of the annoying-as-fuck "Pay After 30 Days" Window Prompt.
