Is anyone else shipping Shirou/Assassin in this?

 

Read the first four chapter. This is really interesting. Will read the rest tomorrow, but so far tentative 5/5. Loving how the Servants were mixed up and how the Master's seemed changed personality-wise. Well, except for Rin.

That aside, it's an easy 5/5, really. Engaging and fun to read. The fight scenes weren't too bad, nothing mind-blowing. Author has a tendency to describe every motion Shirou makes, bringing down those parts of the fight. On the other hand, they do a decent job with Lancer versus Shirou's Servant.

Of which, really liking the dichotomy there.

Makes you realize just how psychotic she is. Can't wait for Shirou's reaction to that side of her. Especially, her jealous side.

Characterization isn't the strongest, but it is pretty decent. Shirou is refreshingly not like canon, and his skills are very nice. The poisonous plants he utilizes make it all the better.

There is some hints about how things might or might not play-out, considering how he was revived. How that will end has me very curious.

Some small quibbles would be the tone. There is a lot of light-hearted, mixed in with dark, tense moments. Hell, the last snippet with Castor is a prime example of this. It gets a little jarring, and at times I think it comprises the characterization. I mean, I laugh, but it still irks me. I wish the author would cut back a little on the light-heartedness, or at least not make it so blatant at times.

As I said, a quibble to a very enjoyable and fresh take on the Grail War.

 

Author has become my favorite and this story is the only one I go and check every now and then for updates.

 

I like what I've read so far, and I hope to read more soon. 4/5

 

Chapter 8 is up

 

A surprising turn in Assassin's mindset there. Definitely making her think and playing up her own desire at the same time. I was pretty impressed.

Plus, I rather enjoyed the tone through this. Not overly light-hearted as some in the past.

Besides that most of it was just filler, though necessary in the scene with Rin.

 

I must admit, I quite enjoy the little ironic moments of reflection that Shirou has over what kind of idiot would [insert canon!Shirou quality/action here].

 

A 5/5 from me. It's one of the few stories I bother keeping up with updates right now.

 

Assassin's channeling some of Ilya's "Pure innocence while power-drill!raping someone's head". Or at least, that's the vibe I got when reading her scene at the end.

 

Assassin's jealousy is cute. 5/5.

 

Awesome story. Assassin is :awesome. I'm really looking forward to the conflict with Assassin v Rin or Ilya.

I'd agree with iLost though. Cut back on some of the light-heartedness. And god damned stop with the Final Fantasy. :facepalm

 

Okay, not a big Final Fantasy player, but what are you referencing in the story? Obviously something I missed...

Personally, I liked it. At first I thought the battle between Castor and Saber would be epic, but hell, she just steam-rolled them! HA!

Assassin might soon get her chance with Rin, so looking forward to see if there are any reveals in store there.

 

I think it was disappoint. Obviously, Saber is going to steamroll the shit out of Caster, but it was still... disappointing.

Caster's master ... Feh. Little better than throw away filth.

This is what I'm looking forward to the most. Very few will find it surprising, but I'm kind of hoping when Assassin shanks Rin, Shirou's not at all concerned and keeps truckin on as he is.

Ilya/Shirou's being related as well. Gil and Saber clashing, and Kotomine's role in things coming out would not go unappreciated either.

Update! A solid chapter that whets my appetite for what's to come.

 

Well, Caster's master is completely and utterly fucked. I wonder if Shirou will start experimenting with the 'decay' instead of just 'growth'.

I can't help but think of Oboro from the Psyren manga.
