Though technically part of the Uplifted series, No knowledge of the series is required to enjoy this. As this actually started off as a standalone story until the author decided to fit it into the larger alternate history of his Uplifted stories.

A more mellow character study exploring the interplay between faith and science, the story focuses on House and Wilson heading down to Beaufort North Carolina in an attempt to save the dying heroine Jamie from A Walk to Remember. House's cynicism and bluntness offsets the more sappy and unrealistic parts of a A Walk to Remember quite well, while Wilson remains a smart, capable but emotionally driven character. The OC's introduced, namely the German industrialist John Hoch, are brilliant, and the mix between canon and fan characters is seemless. The story addresses issues such as global medical disparity and the struggle between religion and secularism on both a personal and political level. I really loved this, and am eager to hear what you guys think.

I could have happily lived my entire life not knowing that neo-Nazi Talimancer fanfic writers exist.

Um, the guy is pretty clear on how anti-nazi he is. I mean a good part of his other series is about how they make a successful coup against Hitler. But John Hoch in the Miracle Workers is the son of a former Nazi.

This is a story where the Quarians come to earth during WW2, after Operation Barbarossa, and decide the Nazis would make better allies than the actual Allies, and then stick with that decision even after they find out about the Holocaust.

    Seriously.

In the context of the story it makes sense, given that the story begins before the Holocaust, and the Quarians less than noble intentions for humanity (They want their own version of the Krogan). Once the Holocaust begins, it is too late to switch sides, so they organize a coup. But that has nothing to do with this story, other than a background where the Cold War was not between Russia and the US, but between an Imperialist Germany Ie Pre WWI Germany, and the US.
