Topic - A Magical New Year


Very open-ended topic that can include any POV. Just make sure it includes a new year​

Picking up where Ched left off, we know the drill.

Winner gets a star for their profile, but the 'winner's banner' is going to keep hanging out with the last winner of a full competition until the next one ends.

Xiph0 and I may know your identity but otherwise you'll be kept anonymous unless you choose to claim your story after the competition.

Word Count: 500-5000 words
Due Date: January 1st, 2024 (send your stories via pm to @Xiph0)
Voting (estimate): January 3rd-20th

either via poll or via point distribution depending

Vote for the winners in the poll/s -- how many you can vote for will depend on the number of entries. You need to review every story and I'd prefer you link to your review, but I understand that's a PITA so it's okay if you need to skip.

This thread will be moved to the story competition sub-forum when it is created. I wanted to get it up ASAP.

For a normal competition yes, but for a flash one, we rarely see entries over 3000. After all, we only have a few weeks to write it.

I really wanted to participate this time, but I've spent all day writing and I'm at glorious 320 words. Haven't even finished my setup of a setup scene.

 

Since this never appeared in the competitions area I never even glanced in the thread's direction when I'd pop by the forums on my phone. Finally saw it by dumb luck a few days ago and the prompt hasn't inspired anything, alas. The one old idea I'd had was more for Christmas than the new years.

I wish I had 6 points to give, because all three of these are basically equal for me, but sadly one has to lose out. Great work to all the authors- not just of these, but everyone who entered. It's been a blast to have a comp going again.
