The Adobe networks were compromised as early as August and as late as mid-September. They hit Adobe assets, namely the source code for some of their products, including Cold Fusion, Adobe Acrobat, and perhaps others yet unknown. The problem with this is that it makes it easier to design zero-day attacks in the future if you have the source code in front of you.

The attackers also hit customer data. Three million accounts compromised. Usernames, passwords, credit card details, and other data were taken. The passwords and credit cards were encrypted, but that doesn't make them safe from various decryption attacks.
