This trailer, released today, leads me to believe that they're (3dRealms) finally starting to work on the game. And it is real. If you don't believe me, check http://www.3drealms.com.

Wow, finally gonna do something with this game. Been what? Ten years now?

 

Yeah, the teaser looks like crap. Honestly, we already had what should have been Duke Nukem Forever and it was called 'Serious Sam'. Whatever 3D Realms do now, they'll look like they're the ones doing the copying.

BTW, how in the world did 3D Realms managed to stay in business without publishing the game in 10 years!?

 

They did help produce "Max Payne" series and more recently "Prey". "Max Payne" did alright, getting itself a sequel or two. Not sure about "Prey",

I usually don't play FPS games. Not really my cup of tea, I rather play a Role player any day.

 

I think Max Payne was produced by some other studio. But you're probably right about Prey - that also took them about 10 years to complete.

 

Prey was announced in 1995 and released in 2006, development hell for 11 years.

They have Max Payne up on their website saying "overseen by 3D Realms", they must have a hand in the cookie jar somewhere with that.

Also they say on their site that they are looking for a release in 2009, guess that is better then "when it gets done".

 

Restarted? Problem with Duke Nukem is it never stopped. It's actually been in development for 10 years, not on the drawing board or whatever. I remember the ingame footage they released from '98....

As for Max Payne, that was made by Remedy (the same guys now doing Alan Wake) and was extremely good. Not sure who distributed it though. Prey sucked completely and was a waste of my time even though I got it free with my 360.

I'm generally not an FPS fan, and I'd much rather play RPGs any day, but when DNF finally gets here be it in a year or another decade I'll play it. Duke Nukem was such a huge part of my gaming youth I couldn't not. That, and I just want to hear more cheesy lines. "I've got balls of steel!"

 

I really hope it never comes out. Seriously, that'd be like Jesus coming back to Earth tomorrow. Do you know how much that would fucking suck?

 

I remember playing Duke Nukem in my youth. It was fun and had lame lines and all that. The thing is that it does not feel like much has changed, and while that was cool in like 94, now it is lame. I feel it would not be well received by many and would just kind of ruin a cool childhood game. Like what spiderman 3 did to that series.

I read an article in Gamepro about 3DRealms. They weren't working on their own stuff heavily because they were working behind the scenes with a lot of other companies.

Some of them gave credit, some didn't, and the article had a few of the games they were working on. I think Payne and Prey were there. I'll have to dig up the article online.

 

This game will blow.

I honestly dont care if this game does suck when it comes out Im going to buy it just because its Duke Nukem, When I was younger my favorite games I ever played were the Duke series and If theres going to be a new one then Im going for it
