tinyhunt really isn't a good setup.

Witches are absolutely broken mechanically (soup) and they still lose most of the time because the setup is otherwise heavily town favored.

The setup is still enjoyed by many, so I'll keep rotating it in until enough people say they don't enjoy it and there's no interest in it being run.

It's not as good of a setup in terms of competitive balance as other games, but it tests different things skill wise, and enables memorable plays. People know what they're signing up for, it's fully open, and while it balanced on a knife edge in terms of swinginess that tension, artificial or not, makes for an entertaining gamestate that some players really enjoy.

The ability for a witch to swing back with a roaring soup and wipe out the town who over-claimed to narrow the game down, or at least the /threat/ of that is very real.

I think Lump plans might need some kind of counterplay maybe, but the setup is pretty close to 50/50 overall the times it has been run. I've personally won all 4 of my witch games in tinyhunts, though it does cater to my skill set pretty well.

Plus I mean, no TinyHunt means there never would have been an "I'm the priest!" game.

TL;DR - the setup isn't perfectly competitive balanced, but we're not scrapping it from rotation since there's people that enjoy playing it. If that ever changes, then so be it!

Look I messed up that game and had RL.

    I just wasn't good.

I swear I am good on other sites.

Aww, Mathblade I'm only messing around <3

    Re: Eidolon.

On a more serious note: I just hate open setups in general, and role-heavy, soup-featuring setups in particular. It doesn't happen to play to my personal skills, and it's just not the kind of thing I enjoy. But I don't begrudge other people enjoying or playing it. I'm very much a on-again off-again mafia player, so I'm perfectly happy skipping one or another.

Right. There are people who enjoy closed setups, people who enjoy open, and people who like small, large, etc.

We don't have a large enough community to reliably run multiple games at once I don't think, so rotating through everything is the only way to keep folks happy.

I think the new WH set will fix a lot of the most apparent issues with previous games, like excessive focus on mechanical evaluation and early mass claims.

I don't think the problems in tinyhunt can be fixed while retaining the core of the game (unique roles for town / witches).

I like TinyHunt. Part of it is nostalgia from first scumgame, first scum win, Lump gambit, etc. But I really like the interlocking rubber band part of the setup; it's designed for kind of similarly narrow tightrope-y acts needed for both teams to do well.

In general, maybe we should have some sort of informal poll about what king of games DLP would like to see?

I tend to prefer simple, non-mechanics heavy setups that put an emphasis on behavioral analysis, but there are more kinds of mafia games than just WH -> basic closed setup -> TH -> another basic closed setup -> WH -> repeat.

Eido mentioned at one point maybe trying to get a Friday Night Turbo thing going, maybe played on MU for the software. Maybe that would be an interesting place to start?

For other types of games, it's mostly about actually running them.

We've got a good, mixed group so you should be able fill games up to about 17 or so players pretty easily.

Sure, but my thought was more along the lines of "it's really cool that most people will sign up for most games, but what do people actually want to play?"

Alright, after RWBY is done, what mafia game do you guys want to play?

I'll make a poll once we generate some ideas. Witch Hunt, Tiny Hunt, maybe Delphine's game... What else?
