    On chapter 8.

Maniacal jury-rigged quarian flamethrower Tali vs hordes of the thorian's feelers.

    That is all.

Have to say, so far I'm enjoying this one more than Three Families (4/5 for me. It's just too wordy, too much bullshit, too much of that fucking si wongi desert prophet guy), but there's another 1.X million words for that to change. As of now, it's pretty canon rehashy, but there's enough Avatar AU (most of the Avatar AU comes from Three Families, not the cartoon), to keep it legit.

It's worth your time, though I have to warn that it uses the "angry, broken, Mindoir/Torfan Shepard," trope that is so pervasive in the fanfiction for whatever drama it's supposed to have, but it looks to be breaking slowly but surely. It's tied nicely into the Avatar state. Think Korra re. airbending.

Also, Wrex's parrotturtle*InsertWeirdAvatarAnimalAlalgamHereCuzIForgot* is slowly creeping up my favorite fanfiction characters.

I'm on chapter 4 and so far so good. I wasn't expecting much, I actually expected a big disaster but so far it's pretty good. I like it.

And it doesn't suffer the angst, so prevalent in the Of Shepard and Battle Chicken.
Despite it being the Butcher of Torfan Shepard I haven't seen any of the pitfalls other stories with that premise stumble into.

It's readable and keeps you interested.

The Torfan stuff does get resolved and stops hanging over the story the way it does in most of the other ones along those lines that I've read. Also, if you're loving Wrex, you're gonna love Grunt when you finally get to him, might be my favorite portrayal of him yet.

While it does keep fairly close to canon in the 'timeline of events' sense, the way that the events happen and the depth that is given to them is very different from canon. The further into the story you get, the more the Spirit World starts to come into play, and that's where a good deal of the awesome scenes/concepts in this fic are.

I'm to chapter 17, and yes, this is quite engrossing.

Legion and Nazara's conversation kicks ass. It's a fucking stellar adaptation of Shepard's communication with the Leviathan in the games.

If only it wasn't femShep. Seems like every time i see a promising fic recommended here it's with a female Shepard. Probably due to the overall number of those stories I guess.

Out of curiosity, why does it being femShep bother you so much?

And yeah, the Reapers as a whole in this story are really badass. I think this might be the best characterization for them that I've seen.

Meh, I've never played a femShep. It kind of feels the same as a femHarry story for me. Not really something I'm interested in reading.

I don't care about the gender of Shep when I read the fic tbh. If Shep being a women plays a large role in the story it's probably not worth reading.

I feel that it tends to not be very relevant in the stories I read. Shepard's relationships are more up in the air thanks to being given the choices in the game, so you can take him/her in many directions without bending characters too much.

I have to say, "Random Jack showing up hungover and mad where she might be needed," is a new favorite trope.

You know, it says something about the length of a fic when you can forget something like that happened. It is a really good scene though, I'll have to find the time to reread this entire thing someday.

So I finally got to the end. I like it quite a bit better than Three Families - I found that I skimmed a whole lot less. I still think it's way longer than it has to be, but I can't exactly say what should be cut. 4.5/5, a tier below Interstitium, and LuxDragon's novelization and probably a tier above the Memoirs series and Of Sheep and Battle Chicken.

How much do you need to know about Avatar to enjoy that Avatar crossover?

It was a brainfart, Cameron's Avatar just made sense as ME xover material.

More knowledge won't hurt, but basically, all you need to know going in is that people can bend either water, earth, fire, or air and fight with it. And humanity has a being called the Avatar who can bend all elements at the same time.

Has anyone found a story that starts with the reaper invasion. Because I am starting to get bored with the constant rehashes of the first contact war and the early contact period.
