Tbqh I find it super boring. Can only read so many Ryuugi fics that are just an overpowered protag stomping everyone I guess.

I like Ryuugi, but all his stories do have the OP protagonist, and they all read the same way. Jaune, Percy, Harry Potter, Taylor, if you just change the name and the pronoun they're indistinguishable. This one is interesting in that we're not seeing it from the OPP's point of view, but even then I'd enjoy seeing one of his protagonists be brutally overpowered.

Rec: Skitter Studies, a Worm/ Dresden Files fusion: https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/skitter-studies-dresden-files-worm.36003/

Its basically the Dresden Files setting with characters and situations heavily inspired by Worm. Our protagonist, Taylor, is a soon-to-be wizard and (wannabe) investigator who bites off more then she can chew. The fic doesnt have much to do with Worm OR the Dresden Files and reads like a nice, standalone series with good flair.

I've been seeing a lot of Worm/Dresden stories popping up. Was there a specific fanfic that caused this craze? Because I've been looking at most of them, and I just can't really get into it.

I think Of Wasps and Wizards was the first one I noticed that lasted longer than one or two arcs, though there's probably a boatload of snippets in the SB Worm Ideas thread that prompted it.

There definitely are a lot of Worm/Dresden stories popping up. Irrelevant mostly, because they're pretty much all garbage. I've never come across a "Fusion" story that was even barely readable.

Strangely, the only Worm/Dresden story I think is alright(so far) is written by LacksCreativity, author of the most boring Worm story ever written.

    Double Cross

Post/Mid-Echidna(?) Taylor is dropped into Dresden's universe in the middle of winter, sometime between Dead Beat and White Knight. The pacing in this is better than it was in A Cloudy Path so far. Characterization is a little bit iffy though. I'll probably stick it up for review after a few more chapters, assuming it doesn't get a lot worse.

Just read Double Cross and it's rather solid so far. Was fearing for Dresden lecturing Taylor and whatnot and so far there isn't any of that, no bashing at all, really.

Dunno exactly where it will go and how it will deal with some of the more difficult things but so far, worth a read.

I feel like A Cloudy Path has really picked up. The first half or three-quarters is mind numbingly boring, but the latest stuff is great in my opinion. He's really grown as a writer. You'd expect it though, since it's gotta be over a million words long by now. Of course, as soon as I started following it he put it on hiatus.

If anyone has any fics they want to stop updating, just send them my way and I can practically guarantee that they'll stop updating within a month.

No matter how good the last parts are, I'll still have to read through 750k of utter boredom.

It did, sort of. ACP has more fundamental issues, in terms of how lockstep it follows early Worm's pacing. It's also got the sheer failure that was the Butcher fight. Taylor is also hilariously out of character in every way that matters. :wall:

Still, if you can stomach the introspection of a 16 year old girl, as written by a fanfiction author, there is a lot of interesting stuff in ACP. I'd call it the definition of a 3/5. Guilty pleasure all the way.

On a different note, I stumbled across this: https://forums.sufficientvelocity.com/threads/wolf-spider-worm.39611/reader
Wolf Spider by TheLaurent- Worm AU: The premise is that instead of nearly killing Lung the first night out, Taylor comes across Bitch raiding a Dog fighting ring and helps out. This leads to a fairly believable friendship between Bitch and Taylor, which eventually turns into a romance type thing- which kind of stretches credulity a little, but not significantly worse than Panacea/Skitter fics do.

I didn't see this posted anywhere, although granted I could have missed it. Also, I linked it in Reader Mode, which makes reading SB and SV based fics much less obnoxious.

    Pros
-Just an AU. No crazy alternate powers.
-Danny isn't written horribly. He comes across as a busy, distant father that's worried about his daughter.
-The plot is a lot more believable than the first couple chapters of Worm.
-There are some run on sentences and a few typos, but the grammar/spelling is okay enough to not ruin the story.
-The real treat here is how well the characterization is handled, in terms of how Taylor is slowly getting integrated into the Undersiders, and how the PRT is reacting in a stupid, but rationally stupid, way. I also like that she doesn't exactly get along with everyone at first, in particular with Grue and Tattletale. Refreshing, and believable.

    Cons
    -Greg is involved, peripherally.
-Much of the dialogue is pretty rough.
    -Not exactly inspiring writing.
-The romance is... odd. Granted, Bitch is completely screwed in the head, but something about the character just doesn't really click with Taylor. The friendship works, but the romantic aspects seem to move a bit quickly to my eye, although this Taylor is characterized with much more of a libido than canon. I guess it's really more a YMMV.
-The problem I've got is that it's kind of sliding into the exact same situation as canon, which is a little boring to be frank.

I'd call it a 3.5/5 with a chance to round up at a later point if it improves.

So, found this on spacebattles. Worm/Guardians of the Galaxy cross. I have to admit I clicked on it because I quite enjoyed the first movie and wanted to check it out.

So, in short, Taylor gets abducted by the Ravagers in 2005 (I think) and the stories really begins 6 years later with a call from Rhomann Dey. It is still fairly short and I have no real idea where or how this is going to work, but what's there was entertaining to read. Taylor of course is so OOC that it's just weird, but I think the rest of the Guardians are pretty spot on. Like I said, no idea if this will be serious or just some fun on Earth Bet. There are already pretty hilarious scenes with Drax in it, so I am looking forward to more of those.

I'll definitely keep an eye on it, it's currently at about 16k words.

Edit: It helps that the GotG soundtrack is amazing.

I ran into this fic today where Taylor is Alexandria's daughter:

    Taylor Costa-Brown

It's kind of short at the moment, but I've enjoyed what's there. Taylor doesn't have powers and doesn't know that Rebecca Costa-Brown is Alexandria. Taylor struggles with the harsh security she requires in her day to day life, and is pretty much powerless when a situation comes up that requires her bodyguards to be of use.

I really like it, but there's not much to it yet, and the author is writing by the seat of their pants, so it could go badly.

I'm definitely going to get bored of it soon if it continues to just be about Taylor being put into situations and moping at the back while everyone else takes care of it. I'd like to have a better idea of what is going on.

A Royal Visit by jacobk is a Worm / One Punch Man crossover on spacebattles.

So far, it's around 10k words.

Basically, King and Tatsumaki land in Brockton Bay and the story is told from King's perspective, how he sees the world around him, as the Worm world also starts thinking of him as this invincible badass even though he just seems to be a regular otaku/Caiaphas Cain type character (haven't gotten that far with OPM myself).

It's short, can't imagine it ever being finished or if it is, that it will be a long story but what is there is utterly charming and funny. It's simple, delightful and just a good time.

Worth a read if you want to just have some fun.

I started that yesterday but couldn't get into it. The writing is alright but I suppose I wasn't digging Kings perspective, that and I can't remember which one he was from OPM

King's the guy that most of Saitama's kills were attributed to because he just happened to be in the area when it happened and Saitama didn't stick around to claim credit himself. He's pretty much a bog standard otaku who keeps himself in shape, and whose heart beats loud enough to be audible for several feet around him whenever he's scared, which people attributed to bloodlust for some reason.

As for the story itself, I'm really enjoying it. I adore the concept, and the writing is pretty solid, so I'm all on board with it. I'm holding off for more until I put it up for library review, but if it keeps going as it has, I'd give it 4/5 easily.

Great find, Nemrut. Jacobk is a good author and the concept is cool - no surprise that the story is readable and easy to enjoy

Rukaio Alter is an author on SB who mainly seems to write one-shots/two-shots. Now, I haven't read all of them, only a few, but those that I have read were rather well written and honestly captured the spirit of what they wanted to be really well.

    My favorites so far were:

...to watch the world burn, in which Taylor triggers as, well, the Joker. The story is a three parter and is told from Sophia's point of view. Basically, Taylor has already been captured and it's mostly a conversation between the two about the horrible things Taylor did and to desperately get the whereabouts about her kidnapped family. It managed to capture the spirit of the Joker really well, so much so that I could really imagine Mark Hamil's laughter at voice at parts. Especially in part three, the Joker has such an amazing line that will remain in my memory for a long time.

Now, it's not perfect, it included something from the Joker mythos that I usually like but was executed rather badly, imo, and was downright unnecessary. Also the parts taken from the Dark Knight movie were more than a bit meh, especially Assault's monologue but honestly, over all, really good work. 4.5/5

My Fate Your Sword is as it sounds a Fate Stay Night/Fate Zero crossover and honestly, I am a bit heartbroken that it is so short. Basically, the Holy Grail War has broken out in Brockton Bay and we get very short snippets of the respective Master Servant pairs and it's really a delight as each pair makes a lot of sense and just fits amazing together. It's well written, engaging, fun, charming and I would actually love a full-blown version of this, even if it is probably only so good because it is so short.
    5/5

Coming up with good titles is a pain is a story in which Taylor has Shikamaru's powers and personalities and while it doesn't do anything amazing, it's fun enough, a good take on the spirit of Shikamaru and also doesn't really force a quote or line outside the "how troublesome" thing that the other stories do, where said quotes are often rather jarring. 4/5

So yeah, he has plenty of other things, but those three were my favorites. Well, and the Dresden one.

I like this one for the most part however I can help but notice it reads as The Dark Knight with Worm characters and trying to fit it together. Sophia implied to become Batman is dumb, Emma as Harley is dumb and I feel it would have been stronger if the writer just didn't. It pretty much coincides with how I feel most crossovers are done badly.

    @Dark Belra
I never got the impression she was going to be Batman per se. She filled the role of the Joker's enemy, which is usually Batman's role, but other than that the story never really made any parallels between Batman and Sophia, imo.

On the Harley issue, yeah, that was so bad. So unnecessary. Taylor turning Emma, I liked but her becoming Harley, and even adopting her accent was just bizarre and didn't fit.

But, that line from Taylor over the phone?
    That line was fucking awesome.
