Newcombs read on the post by #17.

It throws me off because Either #17s post is really bad and scummy or it is an obvious joke.

Like - #17 says that Prophs first post vote is random (and scummy for it), which is true because it is rvs and sooh had not posted at the time (I think). This statement in itself cannot be serious.

Add to this that the "Tonally off." part references to a post that is only the word "hype" + a vote.
It is not off because it is nothing.

Newcomb picking on it this way and not realizing it was an obvious joke is just all kinds of wrong.
Feels like busywork or distancing. Distancing because of the softpush without follow up etc. It feels like knowing something is wrong and therefor softpushing without actual thoughts behind it.

 

Is this an Actual Newcomb Read? Because I'm not understanding why it's wrong.

 

In her first game of dlp she rolled town and was way more disconnected and didn't really get into the game etc.
Less posts than normal. Less fun.

I think it is more likely to see her having a similar experience as wolf.

 

I've never actually randed wolf on MU and thus have never really had to pay a ton of attention to my town as a wolf.

I may or may not have tried to hunt down wolf games you had for the GoG game last Christmas.

 

That is actually a game I would like to forget about.

 

It is wrong because either the whole post is scummy because it just was or he realizes the whole post is a stupid joke.

In which case his read on the 2nd part being tacked on is useless and makes no sense, because he realized the whole thing was nothing but an early pregame rvs joke.


Thinking the 2nd part is scummy because it is tacked on implies he thinks the whole post is serious.

The post was made 10 minutes into d1 when most things happening where still pure fun and rvs.

I doubt #17 makes a post like that and actually says and believes that Proph made a post 4 minutes into d1 that includes random vote and #17 thinks it is scummy for it.
RVS stage is normal everywhere. Newcomb knows it. #17 knows it.

Newcomb taking the reasoning serious just rubs me the wrong way.

I kind of see it in that Newcomb always picks on super little things like stuff tacked on being weird or sideeyeing stuff that he thinks is odd behavior, but what makes this scum!Newcomb as opposed to town!Newcomb.

 

Reading through the 2nd Newcomb wall and all I feel is *shrug*.

Sadness.

 

I initially took it seriously and scumread suburb for it. Shrug.

 

I could see Newcomb making a post like this to a partner as a stupid/weird way to soft distance.

And honestly, I just don't see town!Newcomb not seeing the context to the post at all when he was reading the thread at the time.

It was not an iso read or anything. He was reading earlygame and thought the post was serious, without thinking about it any further.
That is level 1 play. It doesn't fit with my expectation of "Newcomb catches up".

Going back to his original wall, he made a comment about a post I made saying he'd be tilted if I made it to endgame after making a comment like that (the blame tom comment).

Didn't think the post was worthy of a comment like that. Feel like he's picked a few weird things to comment on/give reads on in the game. I'm aware that picking up on strange things is a way people read, but my comment was just a joke, its pretty clearly something anyone who likes joking (which I think I had shown at the time, if not later) would say regardless of alignment.

 

Maybe his puppy was distracting him or something .

I expect Newcomb to be able to have some context in mind when we are 29 posts into the game.
