It's hard to believe that this is the same guy that wrote the Son of Suns trilogy.

Please have you read Son of Suns recently? The angst is just as strong.

Well sure. But stuff actually happens in that trilogy.

Seriously. The story isn't even much fun to read, it's just Luke moping. At least in the Son of Suns Luke was doing things and not angsting about his latest drug problem.

Another update. I stand by my previous comment, there's a hint towards more action but I thought that the last time before Luke went back to moping and angsting about his addictions.

Oh god. So I'm not the only one who got sick of several thousand words of this drivel.

New update, stuff actually happens but it leads towards what looks like the same old song and dance.

I'm thinking this is one of those stories that might be better if read all at one time. Maybe I'll wait till it is completed or for five or so chapters to come out before I read it again. The constant angst and self-destructive decisions make this story a bit tiring to read after a while.

    Chapter 26

So much talking and not a single step forwards.

The latest chapter was pretty fantastic. Best of the bunch.

The best chapter I can remember.
The end is stupidly frustrating, his habit of using got so old 20 chapters ago. It takes away the appeal of any new development by cyclically going back 5 steps for the 1 taken to advance the plot.

He very specifically didn't use, though. Considering the past 20 chapters, my own expert use of cliffhangers, and my authoring senses, I believe that Luke is done with spice. If he wasn't, there would be no cliffhanger. He'd have toked up at the end of the chapter, because that's the norm; no reason to make a cliffy for something you've seen a thousand times already. This is a cliffhanger because it's a special moment. Different than all the ones before. He won't use.

    I think.

This has updated again, and the author says he's finished it so it should have regular updates until the end. I'm not really a fan of Luke in this one, but the other characters are interesting if bogged down by Hamlet Skywalker.

It seems like he's finally had his inflection point. Given that there are 3 chapters left it better be the real one unlike the million rolled back ones the story has had before

Another update, the action was a bit more tolerable with a minimum of angst.

    >see two updates, one 21k one 3k
    >go to the last one, see it’s the teaser for part three

Awesome. Now I can finally go and read this instead of doing it piecemeal and going insane with the pacing, :V

Since it's now clear that there's going to be a 3rd part, should probably change the Complete tag back to WIP.

I was really hoping it was actually just a duology, as I had been waiting for it to finish and much prefer to read works in their entirety, but I probably won't be able to resist.

Part 2 was bad. It should have been half the length tops

For everyone surprised about the angst, the slow pace, the going in circles and large sections of nothing really happening, you should take a look at the third book of Son of Suns again. It's the same shit.
