World of tank, its great fun. I love playing Party's. But unless you pay the gold for premium, have fun grinding your way to your 10.

My recommendation if that is what you want to do. Pick one or two tier 10 tank you'd like to play and focus exclusively on them. Because the more you spread. The longer it will take you.

The most used end game tank are American and German heavy.

Some line are better than other at different tier. Ex: Russian have great early tier, 1-5. Sucky mid tier, 6-8. But their tier 9-10 are very good. But the 6-8 are really bad, for real...

American SPG are fun. And their tier 9 is the best SPG IMHO and I played them all. (On the PS4 so, I did not play the Swedish one yet)
    SPG rundown:
    American: dmg: 5/5 - Reload: 3/5, Accuracy: 3/5. - Range: 5/5. - movement Speed: 2/5 - armor: 2/5. Ammo arc&velocity: 5/5. Turret arc: 3.5/5

    German: dmg: 4/5 - Reload: 3/5, Accuracy: 3.5/5. - Range: 4/5. - movement Speed: 3/5 - armor: 3/5. Ammo arc&velocity: 2/5. Turret arc: 3.5/5

    Russian: dmg: 3/5 - Reload: 3/5, Accuracy: 3/5. - Range: 3/5. - movement Speed: 2/5 - armor: 3/5. Ammo arc&velocity: 4/5. Turret arc: 2.5/5

    French: dmg: 1.5/5 - Reload: 2/5, Accuracy: 5/5. - Range: 5/5. - movement Speed: 5/5 - armor: 3/5. - Ammo arc&velocity: 5/5. -Turret arc: 5/5

    Great-Britain: dmg: 4/5 - Reload: 3.5/5, Accuracy: 5/5. - Range: 1/5. - movement Speed: 3.5/5 - armor: 2.5/5. Ammo arc&velocity: 3.5/5. Turret arc: 3.5/5

This are m'y rating. Based on personal preference and lots of experience. More info by pm if you want.

A bit of a random MMO-related feedback on games, as recently I've been feeling withdrawal from MMOs. ;D. Looking for something to play, meaning I tried a few things here and there in the recent months.

    ++
Played a bit of ESO during the free weekend (still ongoing), got disappointed that both thieves' guild and assassins' guilds are behind a paywall, and decided not to buy the game at this time.

Seems otherwise well made. After many hours of other Elder Scrolls games, the loot is very sparse, and even bandit hideouts carry little to no money. Didn't get any PvP experience, and mainly played along the starting quest lines. (Spent some time looking for werewolf NPCs, in vain)

It's perhaps worth the 10 euros with the discount, and seems to have lots of content for the money.

    ++
Tried out the mobile Lineage 2 Revolution, as the advertising through streamers caught my eye. It's alright, but only if you can accept that the most efficient way to play is to not play. Auto-everything gets boring, but I can understand the appeal for management-only side.

Otherwise, the game is plagued by the worst mobile game practices, selling a lot of marginally useful or even useless benefits, luring whales and impeding regular players.

Uninstalled after a couple of days.
(that Lineage 2 look nostalgia, though)

    ++
In the same MMO vein, yet differently, tried find a browser based strategy game to fiddle with in during breaks.

Remembered a certain text-based World of Aegis, which I used to play ~10 years ago.

    Surprisingly, it's still alive.

Unsurprisingly, instead of a few thousand active players with somewhat complex politics between kingdoms and three different servers, the current active player count is around 15 with barely any chatter in the Politics forum. The interface is terribly dated and non-intuitive, but I've been logging in to spend turns (they accumulate overtime) for nearly a week now, and I'll probably keep playing for a while yet. (if anyone wants to join an ancient game that can kneel over any day, I've just created a new kingdom, and would gladly offer help with the basics (pm or find me via other means))

    ++

Planning to take a look at Old Republic next. I saw it has a KOTR look, and figured that since Nostalgia is what's driving me recently, that should work out.

Feel free to throw in a MMO recommendation.

I've been playing Warframe. It's excellent, though as a new player, it's a bit overwhelming since there's 4-5 years worth of updates that I've been inundated with. It's not an MMORPG, but it's not that far away.

I absolutely LOVED Warframe. Me and the little brother got into it a while back, and would frequently the whole evening two or three nights a week grinding through stuff. He then stopped, I think because he went abroad, but not certain on times, and I slowly stopped too. We had our own guild and everything.

But then I tried to get back into it, everything had changed.

When I started, your frame had the four slots for skills, but once you hit level 20, you could change polarity, reset to 0, and increase overall power that way. I had a Nekros, Rhino, and Vauban I'd done this to multiple times (I think 2, 3, and 2, at minimum), plus for the auras. I'd spent platinum on this, although I only ever bought with the 90% off coupon. This had all changed, and that cash was basically wasted. Skills were unlocked as you levelled up, and got more powerful until you hit 20. It felt like they'd undone all the work I'd put in.

Maybe if I'd been active during that time, it wouldn't have annoyed me as much.

That said, the game's still great. Mindless hack'n'blam action, loads of customisable loadouts, weapons, deepish lore, and flamethrowers.

    Also, it's free.

There is premium currency, but you only need it to speed things up. The premium currency (platinum, or plat) can be used to purchase actual weapons from the store, not just the blueprints, as well as ingredients. It can also be used for speeding up creation of weapons, and so on.

But if you don't buy it, and just time things correctly, you can play the entire game and access all the content without it. There's no paywall. I'm redownloading it now, and I'll give it a go. If I still like it, I'll see if I figure out the guild option again, for anyone wanting in? We unlocked a load of stuff, although with only two members, we didn't get everything

Elite: Dangerous is also pretty good, see minor notes from here... Although it looks like you already bought the game, from previous posts.

Warhammer - Age of Reckoning in the form of Return of Reckoning, which is a server hosted by fans, and the game isn't really up to the latest updated that the official live version of it was at the time it got shut down by EA and Bioware.

I both love and hate it.

Putting aside the aesthetics/visuals, which I think still hold up decently to this day (barring low res textures in places), the main reason why people played WAR back in the day was its Realm vs Realm, which isn't a surprise given that Mythic made that sort of thing in the first place back when Dark Age of Camelot came out.

It's an absolute blast in Tier 1 (which consists from 3 different zones: Blighted Isle, Mount Bloodhorn and Nordland), and you can head straight into it from level 1, though obviously you'll be at a disadvantage, as you lack abilities and appropriately leveled gear that won't make you go 'pop' like the proverbial weasel on the first mallet hit. Plus, with all the RvR, you get renown experience, which is separate from regular XP, and makes powerful gear available to you, as soon as you hit the requirements (which, yes, include regular level requirements as well). You can keep at it until you hit level 16, at which point you get turned into a chicken and can't fight anymore in T1.

The problem with RvR? It's tedious past T1. More so because T2, T3 and T4 of RvR got merged. So now you're in Ostland/Troll Country and you think you might want to capture a few battle objectives, raise your keep up to whatever level is needed and then storm the enemy keep. Except the moment you start doing that, at level 16 or level 20, here comes a dozen of the fuckers from the other side, all decked out in level 40 and Renown 80 (that's the max) gear, shitting on you from up high, moving from battle objective to the other, just to deny you fun.

I admit, there are times when even in higher tiers of RvR, fighting can be a shitload of fun and it's not about getting swarmed by the enemies or getting sniped from afar by some cheeky cunt, but the problem consists mostly of players avoiding heading into any fight unless they have the numbers on their side. Best RvR I found around in higher tiers seems to happen at 3-4AM (EU time-zone).

Elite Dangerous was great. I'm still sort of on a kick wanting to play similar games. There's a bunch of variations on steam (most recent one I bought was "Avorion" a few weeks back, but they all lack some of the critical things I'm interested. I really wish there was a super game that was a conglomeration of all the good stuff.

As for Warframe, I know of at least 3 other DLPers from IRC who play, with varying degrees of activity. The only issue I'm running into is that there's just so much stuff to do, I don't know what to farm. There's factions, and alert quests, and infestation questions, and some Razorback Armada thing and void relics. I read that the smartest thing for me to do as a player is to just unlock all the planets first, so I'm working on that, but there's quite a lot of content. And then supposedly just farm the shit out of void relics and sell what I can for platinum, however that works.

I actually like the item system a lot. It sounds like the system you were referring to has been split off into a few different things. Forma now resets a warframe from level 30 to 0 and changes the polarity on a slot to whatever you want. Orokin Catalyst/Reactors reset from 30 to 0 and double the mod capacity. I have a couple of each, but I'm still stuck on my intro warframe (excalibur) so I don't want to waste them on that. I've got all the blueprints for Rhino, which comes off the very first actual boss in the game, but the components to make the final piece come much later in the game (on Europa, which is still like 3 planets away from where I am), so that's kind of frustrating. I don't even think I'll like it, but from what I gather if I want a higher mastery rank I'm going to have to play a bunch of different warframes anyways.

Yeah, Forma and catalyst/reactors did that, but because the skill polarities were part of the standard ones, I reset out the ones for skills I didn't use. But now you wouldn't have skills in those slots anyway, so it wouldn't matter.

As to stuff to do - anything time limited first, if your gear is up to snuff. Do it whilst you can for the free loot.

Then unlock missions, and grind to get gear at higher levels - note, don't try and level everything all at once. It's been a while, but you used to have pet, petweapon, long gun, short gun, melee, suit as different things that all levelled, and you'd want at least one weapon at max, or you'd be stuck wading slowly through hordes of enemies.
You have to level things to increase mastery, and it only counts the first time - potatoing doesn't count. But twin weapons did, so max out single before doubling up.

One thing I really liked was that raids weren't locked to people on Mastery100, or something. Admittedly, you probably shouldn't go in with all level 5 stuff, but you can go in with basically anything. And run it thirty times to get that one single piece of Valkyr you needed.

Selling for platinum (IIRC) was through trading. Advertise, either in your guild, reddit, or the chat, and hope someone takes you up on it. Then buy whatever you want.

I might have maybe once or twice paid in platinum for taxis to unlock later planets for time-limited events, or frames.

That's the problem for me. The game is a constant grind, and at high levels, it's just a stack check or gimmick strategies. And, at mastery rank 24, I have all the weapons/frames in the game. I find myself with nothing to do a lot.

That being said, to sell/buy stuff for platinum, try this website. I've made at least 7-8,000 platinum off of it.

I saw that site on the subreddit, but the whole trading thing is still a bit intimidating, since I don't actually have anything worth trading probably, though I have a few questions about it. Like, I see a guy online buying multiple of the same set, is there a reason for that? Just for buying low and reselling high? Also, it's only prime items? I think I've only found a single prime blueprint and that was off a void relic (I think it was Oberon or Nyx) and I'm nowhere close to crafting any of it.

A streamer I watch recently picked up Rimworld. It’s been around since 2013, but the November 18 patch was supposedly a big deal.

It looked fun so I went ahead and bought it.(28 euro)

The tutorial went smoothly, but it made me build things far apart from each other and I wasn’t happy with it, so I started a real game as soon as I could.

Stereotypically, I spent about 45 minutes deciding on my 3 settlers, and I still wasn’t happy with it but decided to go ahead and play.

All was well for a time. I steadily built my base, saved some people that crashlanded near me (rude bastards didn’t even join my colony) and even fended off the maneating beavers that were the undoing of the streamer I’d watched play this in one game.

Then, about 2 hours in, all my settlers died of heatstroke.

Found out in my next attempt that I’d been using the coolers wrong. You’re supposed to put them /in/ the walls.

My next attempt went even better, finally got someone to join my colony and even had a succesful foray into caravan trading.

Then one day someone called for help.

Needless to say, my help was not the kind of help he’d been hoping for and we all died to lasercannon wielding steel worms or some shit.

Tldr: game is fun as fuck. Recommend.

For the multiple of the same set, it's for resale. I used to do it. At MR 24 I have 25 trades.

    Let's take Valkyr for example.

At the time a Valkyr set had an MSRP of like 250 P.

However, the BP was like 10 P; the Chasis was 70 P; the Systems was 70; and the Neuroptics was 30 P. In total, that is 180 P. So I'd buy all those parts, then sell them as a set for a profit of 70 P every time. I could sell about 5-6 sets a day so I was making around 350-400 platinum per day.

Trading is for prime items, mostly. Syndicate items can also be sold as well as Void trader items and some event items. Void relics are the only way to attain prime items besides trading.

I'm occasionally watching the news, yes.
I've never played the original, but I remember liking some of the ideas of the game.

The Realm vs Realm idea was what drew me into GW2, playing their WvWvW was fun, but it got reset too often for my liking. Also, it was a complete lie that only playing WvWvW would be a viable way to progress. ;D

It's a poor game. I really, really want to like it, but whenever I try, I get bogged down by minute details, the terrible controls and non-intuitive crafting system and get frustrated.
It's fun playing with a group of friends, especially with a goal in mind. But it's very very hard to progress in skills on default rates, and you can specialize only very narrowly, requiring immense amounts of cooperation.
I've spent literal DAYS digging a small mine to find some iron (maybe copper?) ore and smelt it into something useful. Read a couple of books in the meantime.
Also, the ideas of moving land and shaping surfaces is interesting, but moving land takes A LOT of time.

To add to that, Life is Feudal: Your Own is the one played on the private servers.
Life is Feudal MMO should be coming out soon (January?), and there's an active Beta that I'm not a part of (theoretically, since I own YO, I should be able to get on, but haven't yet tried), so I might yet come back for the fourth/fifth attempt.

I might check it out, but after the childhood spent on pirated Lineage and WoW servers, I'm always hesitant to play on fan servers. With the game having no official servers, that might be my only choice.

Monster Hunter World demo dropped ~5 hours ago on PS4 (exclusive). I've cleared all 3 monsters on single player, but want to have a fiddle around with other weapons.

'Beta' is only around until Monday (?), and playing through it gets some item packs in the game (potions and the like). If you find yourself with any spare time and any interest in the game, it's worth giving a go. But I think it's a 5gb download, so if your internet is shit, you might not be able to.

Coming at it from the view of a long-term fan (I pre-ordered the first one on UK release, although didn't import), there's a lot of improvements, although there's a few minor issues.

No more 'zones'. The maps are just one giant area, and you can wander between it at will, without any loading screens. This means you can just chase monsters when they start limping, and if you have a ranged attacker, you can stagger them whilst they're trying to escape. It also means you don't have to try and figure out where all the secret passages go.

Nice little additions in the form of movement - you can use an arm mounted crossbow as a grappling gun, slopes can send you sliding down at a decent clip, and you have to run to get back up at any speed. Again, it makes the game feel more fluid.

Graphics are loads better (but... comparing to a DS game, so not really surprising). Quite smooth, and busy environments, it does make it feel much more like you're actually exploring part of the wild, rather than just wilderness. Having said that, the screen can almost get too busy during fights, which is less than ideal.

Controls are confusing, and I took buttloads of damage because I kept sheathing when I meant to block. Minor issue, and it'll get solved with time as I relearn buttons.
Also, it seems like a few of the combos have been simplified, which is just a bit annoying.
Also, also, it looks like the styles from X and generations has gone, which means the combat system is more simple that way too. No hard feelings either way on that from me, as I wasn't certain I loved them in the first place, but loss of content is always a shame.
That said, the combat still feels pretty smooth, and mildly forgiving. Advanced players can use the proper timings, i-frames, and combos to shave minutes off their hunt times, whilst new players can reach from safety to slowly poke things to death.

Hitboxes seem good. No more plesioth hip-checks from miles away. And the weapons feel like they have heft, which can be gamebreaking if absent.

There's now an easy way to track the monster - you have a helpful pocket of glowflies, that highlight gatherables and footprints. Check enough footprints, and you can now track the monster. This removes a layer of skill/knowledge, but tracking was always the tedious part of the MH series anyway.
Highlighting all the gatherables is another minor annoyance - learning what you could and couldn't pick up, and not knowing until you'd gathered was, I felt, a big benefit to learning in the older games. You knew where to spend your time if you were after certain items.

Online play only, apparently, even if you only play single-player.

It's very little to build a picture off of, but it feels like the skill-floor has been lowered, although I can't say anything about the ceiling.

Whilst some of the later incarnations of MH on the DS have felt like the focus has been on... less than ideal areas (Meownster Hunters! Yaaaaay /s), I've not actually disliked any of the games, although I have tailed off with work and family commitments. But I'm looking forward to the release of this, and getting back into the endless grind for fashionable hats.

I played for a bit. Rocked the first dude with the bow, but the second I struggled with. Just seemed like I wasn't doing much damage (is his weak point his legs? I dunno).

This is my first Monster Hunter, and the first time I'm interested because, you know, second joystick and doesn't look like dogshit.

I messed around with some of the other weapons in the training ground too. I'm normally a quick-style player only, but I'm not sure I dig it all that much in MH, esp when the game seems to be about knocking them down and unloading with vicious strikes. Might try the Longsword, that kinda felt good. The Shield/sword into Axe thing looks fun too, but confusing as hell (charge blade, I think?)

The insect spear thing was really floaty, not sure I would like it against real monsters, but I'll give it a go too.

One of the things about MH that I kind of like is how there's more to each weapon than just attack speed. Bear in mind, this is all based (primarily) X and before. I've played around with most weapon types. There's a depth to each of them, and you can play fine up to end game without getting it perfect, but it really does help.

SnS - you can use items whilst the weapon is out. Can block.
Duel Blades - attacking increases Anger Meter. When it's full, you can turn into Anger Man and do bonus damage and longer combos.
    Long Sword - same
Great Sword - charge attacks. Press and hold to stay in one point, then do a massive blow. Can block.
Lance - can block much quicker, more attacks, and can do a full sprint attack. Can block. Also can counterattack
Gunlance - can be a lance. Is also a gun. And a flamethrower. Can block.
Hammer - can wind up for spinning attacks/megapound, but you can move when charging.
Hunting Horn - buffs and debuffs from playing awesome riffs.
Insect Glaive - Insect gathers different nectars from monsters, and then can be used for buffs. Also, insect is improved separately from the stick. Also allows you to fly.
Charge Blade - converts attacks in sword mode into explosions in axe mode, or into an increased shield. Can block.
Switch Axe - infinite combo, and can turn into an exploding sword.

I've not used bowguns in a long time, and I've never really used a bow.
Light Bowguns - constant machine-gun fire. Not a great range of ammo
Heavy Bowguns - you're a walking artillery piece. Unleash howitzer shells.

I was a light bowgunner in 1st, then switched to Hammer/Hunting Horn/Long sword until Charge Blade and Switch Axe were released. Then almost exclusively CB until I got to G-rank, and a fantastic stat SA.

Gaijin Hunter does a good series, although that might be a bit long. Short overview here.

Weapons do either cutting or blunt (or shot) damage. Heavy weapons (GS, CA/SA as axe) deal blunt damage even though they're sharp.
Sharp damage can cut off tails. A hammer is incapable of doing this.
Blunt damage shatters horns, and causes stun, it also does increased 'break' damage. A longsword is incapable of this.
All damage can cause 'broken' faces/fins/claws. There is a change to the model once this has been done.

Doing any of that gives you bonus drops.

The Charge Blade might be the way I go, but the bottle essence thing is confusing AF, and the UI tracking of it isn't great either.

In the top left of the screen, you have health bar (green), stamina bar (yellow), and then five empty bottles.

Hitting things makes those bottles glow yellow, then more makes them glow red. At this point, normal attacks will bounce off monsters (I think it's a -1 sharpness).

Press R2+O to drain that glow, and fill vials. Yellow fills 3, red fills all 5.

Press R2+/\ to switch to the axe mode (or draw from sheathed using just R2.

Using O when in axe mode will drain a vial, and cause explosions on the monster.
Using /\+O will do an overhead charge attack. This drains (I think) 1 vial, and will put you back in sword mode. This is called the Amped Element Attac/"Super Burst".
If you press and hold R2 during the charge, then instead you'll drain ALL the vials, but you'll get a glowing purple shield next to the vials.
    This unlocks more attacks.

    With a glowing shield:
    20% damage boost
In sword mode, /\+O will do a shield stab that causes minor explosions.
Getting a perfectly timed block will create a "guard point". This is a minor explosion. Video here. It's from MH4U, so forgive the older graphics.
In axe mode, /\+O will do "ultra burst". This drains every vial and the shield charge and does obscene damage.

I played the entire way through low rank single player without using the glowing shield, because it wasn't properly explained. You don't /need/ it.

I made a thread for MH so we're not cluttering this thread. Suffice it to say though I'm struggling to kill the expert boss in the time limit.

Can I get a quick opinion on Assassins Creed: Origins, and whether it's worth playing if I've not played any of the others in the series? It does look fun, and I know it's a prequel to at least some extent, but I don't want to dive in to something too continuity heavy.
