As part of their Halloween Sales, Steam sells the Paradox Grand Strategy Collection (CK2, IU4, Stellaris) for 32,38 €. I've heard that these games are virtually unplayable without a lot of DLCs. So, question for someone who knows: is that true? or is this a really good deal even without DLCs?

Would appreciate your opinion here, guys. Thanks. :D

Yes they are unplayable without DLC. Several rather important mechanics are locked behind them and the games are balanced with you having DLC installed. But you don't need all of them. There is a list out there which features are hidden behind which DLC. Look that up and than figure out how much it actually costs

For CK, HoI and Stellaris I would say it is really for the best to play the base game then consider whether you feel like spending more money and on what, there are issues here and there but if you enjoy the game then you will end up getting expansions you want while feeling it is worth it and if you don't then you didn't waste money. EU is where I feel the expansion model Paradox has really showed it's problems so you hit a lot of weirdness without the expansions yet you also hit a lot with the expansions too, used to be my favourite Paradox game but these days I like the idea more than actually playing it.

That said wouldn't consider it a good deal because even disregarding that you can get it cheaper all of them are games you sink a lot of time in, so either you are not going to like any of them or are going to like one, get expansions and take a long time before you go to the others. Really the kind of situation I feel getting games to test it out before buying is the best option.

The Humble Monthly for this month is incredible. You get Civilization 6 plus two DLC packs plus 7 more games later this month for $12.

You can also unsubscribe at your leisure after purchase and still get the games. Patient Gamers win again

Well, at least you got a few of the DLC packs more than you do with the bundle :p

I got the "Yogscast Jingle Jam" bundles from Humble Bundle in both 2016 & 2017. Both included a beta key that I did not (or do not) plan to use.

    2017: Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Beta

2016: Disc Jam BETA x2 -- these might not work, because they are BETA keys from over a year ago.

Anyone want? First come first serve.

Edit: K, tossing these up on another site.

So new HB here and the $1 were games I have been meaning to get for a while(fault one and two mainly) even ended up deciding to go for more while I am at it except my card was refused so...

Anyone up for a trade for the $1 bundle? I have some non-restricted steam gifts out of which I think neither FFVIII or Rogue Legacy got bundled yet.

So... I picked up CK2. I've tried playing through the "tutorial", but the screens pop up and block play, I've no idea how to get them back, and I have no idea what I'm doing.

    Where's best to learn from?

Watching some Let's Plays would be your best bet.

Quill18 has some good CK2 series. He tends to enjoy the game instead of trying to min/max everything. Do you only have the base game or some DLCs as well?

Arumba is great but pretty detail heavy. If you don't mind the density of his videos has has an intro to ck2 series.

Base game only so far, and I'm muddling through attempting to unite Ireland. So far, it hasn't worked on multiple occasions.

    Thanks for the recs

I watched several of Arumba's series when I started playing, and they were quite good. Though, I will say that even after 1000 hours of play, I'm not nearly half as good at boat bombing as he is.

    Posting this here as well:

So, there is a Humble Bundle out which has, among other things, Torment Tides of Numenera for 15$ (or roughly 12€ for us Europeans). The game got mixed reviews but I had my eye on it and that price is too good to pass up. It helps that Dreamfall and Wastelands 2 is also included in that bundle.

Going through my humblebundle keys, I realized I have quite a few extras that I either don't need, or don't want. Figure I'll just give them away here, send me a message if anyone sees something they want. Keys are all steam unless stated otherwise.
