I'll give you that. Honestly, it depends on the story. SOMETIMES a fic is written in such a way that either friendship is actually worth something while not making the whole thing suck testicles.

-If you're going to make Harry a Sword!Harry, please take into consideration that a couple days of swinging a sword does not give someone mastery over the Sword of Gryffindor or whatever. oh yeah, and Harry killing the basilisk was pure luck, not skill.

Veritaserum... I was considering this and was wondering if it would be plausible that Harry could overcome this. How strong is it? After all.. it's a potion and potions generally have antidotes or something of the like. I've seen some stories go overboard with use of Veritaserum. Not sure...

-If you're going to make Harry Dark!Harry or Evil!Harry or Sadistic!Harry, give a reasonable explanation for making him choose "dark" over Dumbledore's corny excuse for "light". The idea of wingardium leviosa can be used for evil purposes too is a bit overdone. It would be nice to have something new.

 

Instead of saying you could levitate someone out of the window, you could say that one could stupefy you when your standing near the edge of a cliff, or use a Jelly-Legs curse when your swimming in deep water etc.
