It probably would've occurred to me that it could be an Eido post if I'd literally ever played with him besides in Anniversary Mash (and if I was aware he'd played on FS besides in the recentish dramallama game), but it sounded enough like your writing style that I couldn't imagine anyone else on FS writing it. But I was so floored that you would have written that as town at any point that I was ????????! am I just a trashbag ?????

Not super relevant, but I want to kind of OOG defend copypasta as a thing.

I personally get a kick out of it and think it's funny. I think its use has to be tempered by context and who's playing. It blew up last time because the game was like an even split of people who knew each other well but from different places, MU/DLP. Only a few crossovers. So yeah, culture clash is not a good time for it.

I felt like the playerlist here would be a lot more amenable to it, and I chose a target (a FantasyStrike game) where people like Mal and you and fonti and Vaimes have played, I chose a post that I thought people would be somewhat familiar with (it's the origin of the "I'm the Priest" meme), from a game that fonti was actually even in.

So I didn't do it randomly. Like yeah I did it for laughs since that kind of thing is funny to me, but I did it in a way that I thought would be appreciated or at least picked up for what it is by the vast majority of the playerlist.

I also didn't continue it after people kinda pooh-pooh'd it. My plan was to keep copying for a bit from Eido's posts that game, but I stopped because I do actually want the game to be fun for people and if it was annoying rather than funny, I do actually have a heart.

Anyway, back to your regularly scheduled c a t c h u p.

Also just a note, I'm done with work for the day, my new gaming monitor showed up an hour ago, and I downloaded Nier: Automata last night, so after I finish catching up, I'm gonna peace for the day most likely.

In that context a lot of Delphine's behavior toward me is a bit more understandable.

 

So, kind of in response to both of these. I don't think it's very AI for Newcomb to copypasta and then leave. And I feel like the alignment in this game in which he's more likely to feel guilt faster about lack of early contribution is actually probably mafia, considering it's a mod-sanctioned "low effort" game.

The "he / Jan / fonti / Vaimes" not going to be lynched thing is almost verbatim something he said in ... whatever Witchhunt it was that all 3 of us were last in. So it's a strategy of managing D1 he has employed before. Was there something about how it was worded in this context that seemed disingenuous? I don't feel strongly about it myself.

 

Yeah I'm vibing with Jan enough to just mark him as town for D1 and move on, I think.

It was the copypasta in addition to literally every other post he’s made. It feels way too much like he’s setting himself up to coast and I hate every bit of it.

And it’s not that it was worded disingenuously, I just think it’s cocky and unreasonable. “Don’t lynch wxyz because we’re better than all of you” is how it comes off and sure the halfway rule works for like, me on GTF for instance because it’s an inexperienced crowd that I run train on as either alignment, but on DLP with this particularly competent group of players I think it’s just ridiculous to completely put 1/3 of the game off the table for a day one lynch just because they’re normally good players. All of us in this group aside from shadowlancer who I don’t really know, play at a level with this group that I believe to be high caliber and experienced, and I think it’s cocky and an easy coast to disallow four people from being targets on the first day when it’s very likely one could be a witch just by RNG. That’s 1/3 of the game. Like, stop.

Just a whole bunch of feel-bads and that’s the icing on the cake. If it wasn’t AI previously I feel as though it aligns with my belief that Newcomb is setting his position to be comfortable this game and it just so happens he’s re-using old meta to fall in line with that.

FTR this is something extremely town!Vaimes to do.

 

It is fair that setting aside 4 people upfront based on meta is less organizationally necessary in a 13er than an 18er. Would like further explanation of that.
