I was SUPPOSED to stop hating D1 after Portal 2 where it went well and I even got to advise someone else on how to handle it.

dC's ISO is one of the stranger ones I've ever read. He keeps, like... yeah he's obviously ping-ponging around like crazy, as has been noted. But there's a self-awareness of it that kind of, hm, snaps in and out of focus.

If it's performance art, it's pretty good performance art. If it's real though, it's... I mean the reason it's hard to see as real is that it doesn't necessarily evolve in a way you'd expect for someone who's representing a pretty large amount of self-reflection.

 

I missed you asking this, sorry. (Was confused for a second when I saw you say you'd answer after I did.) I thought 710 was really scummy. I don't understand what he's reading into at all there? It just looks a lot like OMGUS and the timing of the vote coming after Waco/us pushing shadow feels super wrong.

Don't think I ever want Newcomb lynched day 1 though so my first impulse is to want to lump him especially with the way things are playing out this dayphase.

 

It's self-reflection plus exhaustion (a.k.a. I'm sure it would evolve if I had the energy and will to make it so, but instead you get me discovering problems and just sort of vaguely hoping they'll go away and/or not wanting to look at the thread for a while)

anyway I'm going to choose to take that as a sign that maybe I can turn this around? It'll probably depend on my energy levels perking up a bit, or at the very least D2 being a more info-rich environment so it takes less effort to find stuff.

I'm... not sure I see "lack of energy" as your issue, tbh. More like lack of focus, or lack of progression. You seen to have a ton of energy, I just don't really see a consummate drive to actually solve. Like, not saying it's required that you be a town leader or even a cheerleader, but for someone to post with this much vigor and simultaneously and kind of enthusiastically be so... floaty? is just... odd. I associate that kind of drive with, you know. Driving somewhere.

Like, off the top of my head, Stanari is the only player I've encountered who does this to this degree, and it's not something I really associate with your play as either alignment. So yeah, odd.

 

I think you may be conflating my posting earlier (when I was being jokey etc) with my posting more recently. On my end at least I've felt like a drop-off somewhere around when things got more serious.

I mean, maybe I've kept it from leaking into the game more than I thought? But. I haven't felt particularly vigorous RE: this game for a while.

Mm...thinking about it, I dunno. I came into this game hoping to at least TRY to avert the usual D1 mislynch thing but I felt stymied by townreading everyone who I didn't think was a mislynch (which is totally a distinction that makes sense shut up) and then I was kind of almost finding footing again except for the whole "whoops I'm just townreading based on who I know and not based on merit" thing so now it's like

I'm just gonna sit here and hope tomorrow is better ._.

Well, I recall describing her as "unmemorable" while explaining my vote to her. I'd say it's probably because nothing she's said has particularly caught my attention as worth interacting with.

That said, there was another interaction set around #640 (she asks me about why I'm voting her, there's a short exchange about meta, etc)

 

Men, interaction is overrated. You don't need to talk to someone to read them.

Looking at it now, though -

Strikes me as like... is that really your definition of hellbusing? Like, you vote her in the post you unvote fonti or mal or someone and go "welp I don't know what I want to do, let's see where this goes." And then you're on something else a few posts later. It's almost... ephemeral. Like I don't even think I'd count that as a bus, if you're w/w with Delphine. Barely even counts as grazing the side of the car.

 

I dunno, I was pissy when I posted that. You can probably see it in a few of the other responses around there, something like "fuck you for saying I'd be this unprepared as scum"?

That and thinking back I was for some reason thinking of "anything D1" as hellbussing in w/w, which yes makes very little sense (if true it would trivialize the game through generating anti-aligns immediately, or at least it would until "hellbussing" became the meta)

Yeah. I think I’m just gonna continue to roll with this being town dC. Jan said it best early when he said dC was playing without fear, and from what I remember I’d be fairly to moderately surprised if dC really could level his game with this degree of loose openness as a wolf.

Kind of a head/heart thing. Head says that a fair few thoughts seem just too ephemeral to be real solving compared to thread presence, heart says that conversation I just had with him felt really agenda-less and not at all worried about me side eyeing him.

Heart wins this particular battle.
