Would welcome a replacement at this point tbh. I feel like we're all just waiting around for Asmodeus to do something. And for Newcomb to out his result.

Also funfact every time someone has said "derpclear denied" to me in a mafia game I have been town.

I mean, asmo is already a replacement so I kinda get the feeling another one mightn't be forthcoming.

I do think Newcomb should probably claim the result, and asmo is ALLEGEDLY going to-

dC what would you say if I told you I wrote a really big case on you but didn't post it because I have no confidence?

I'd say you should probably assess whether the lack of confidence is specific to the case (i.e. you're not confident IN it) or whether it's more general (i.e. you're not confident in YOURSELF).

In the former scenario you should try to figure out WHY and either modify or scrap it based on the answer.

In the latter scenario you should just post it.

...in future, anyway. Now you've announced that it exists I want to see it :V

Could you like, be less likeable or something so that I don't actively want you to not be scum?

    Hmmm...

Well, you can always add notes where you're not sure about something or, for instance, drip-feed bits of it out over time and ask for input starting with the least solid? There's a few approaches if you want to get started right now rather than doing a bunch of reassessment, and outside input might help with both kinds of confidence issues too.

If it's the sort of casepost where you build a single hypothesis rather than a "this shit scummy yo" casepost (i.e. "dC displays the following activity patterns as evidenced in these quotes") then you can try testing the hypothesis by interacting with me...or you COULD until you notified me of this, now I'll presumably be on my guard :V

You can look back through comments from others (esp. tom/Vaimes) to see where their scum cases on me match up with and differentiate from yours and explore the differences to help reassess and the similarities to help with confidence

You can qualify bits you think are shaky and/or post them in a less sure manner (e.g. "does anyone else feel like this?" vs. "this shit is lockscum shit let's fukken dumpster this guy")

What I'm saying is, there's options! I think lacking personal confidence, while an UNDERSTANDABLE reason not to post a case, shouldn't stop you long term (as finding that confidence will generally seem more towny than not), so if you can, don't let that stop you! If you're not confident in the case then this shouldn't really "stop" you either, but it should prompt you to try using strategies to refine the case so your final product is something you can have faith in. In general I'd say keep your mind open to the possibility that the lack of confidence comes from the case being WRONG, but in this specific scenario you cannot of course take that advice from me :v

As for likability, it might be one of my most potent scum assets but it's ALSO one of my most potent town assets so no can do :V. If it helps, try to remember that lynching me is likely to remain more pleasant and less stressful than it would for some other players.

Oh yeah and one other thing I wanna point out is that casing a townie isn't even always bad. Part of the reason I'm being so affable about this is that "work out who's mislynching me" is my main strategy for when my gameplay tanks >_>

(also on the subject of likability, in the ideal game EVERYONE is likable. This game has been a lot like that in my opinion and it's what's kept my activity at the meager level it has been rather than even lower! So if you want to enjoy games like that, you gotta learn to lynch likable people. Sorry, it's just the way it goes :V)

I mean he's right, I learned this over my past two games (esp. Princess >_>)

Even if you're wrong about shit, being wrong about shit is how you become right about shit. (OH BOY CHECK OUT THESE WORDS OF WISDOM :V)

We could always use more toms :v

Besides, with Jari dying D1 and me being, uh, me, that probably doesn't even add up to two.

@Gemma it is against the best interests of town for you to sit on that case.

While dC could probably just be town, having those thoughts out there for anybody else to consider or echo if they’ve felt the same way benefits us in worldbuilding.

Even if nobody likes a single word of it, that’s also beneficial in worldbuilding because it’ll solidify a townread if they don’t agree with your case.

Either way, I think you should post it all.

Shrug? Not going to post a case I don't feel good about. Especially not when part of my process involves writing cases and seeing how I feel about them after I've written them.

Eh, it'd give us something to talk about I guess while we wait for Asmo/Newcomb. I'll probably just post it so I don't just keeping stewing about my read on him endlessly. I've actually already written two cases on him before this one but I just deleted them and tried to talk to him about stuff instead. Which just made it worse. Sanity check could be helpful.
