Eh. Between Newcomb repping he was gonna check her and the ~possibility that he was aco to priest fonti and just... preferring to wait until shadow could do the thing that stops protection for tonight's Newcomb kill...
Souping last night might have been good regardless but especially if witches thought they could get a mislynch today and maybe learn more I don't really think it was THAT suboptimal not to.

Like, going into night I thought scumasmo would probably soup. Hit newcomb, maybe even just keep going until failing if he thought he was for sure going down.
But if it was any other two living players... not as necessary imo

Gemma Newcomb was almost definitely protected last night, and one sentence to shadow before he died would mean that they can cancel protection for tonight.

 

Oh right I forgot about that. I feel like all this mechanical stuff is kind of over my head so I don't really know. I think when I read into kills like that I tend to just focus on who is pushing who when they died / what their reads were. Probably also matters if he thought he was getting checked or not. Actually holy shit I just realized something.

 

Actually quick aside:
If jari was scum it was him and shadow all day so they would have known one was dying and the other checked so I must assume they would have set up the last gasp thing to kill the priest n2.

Kinda want to lock clear the jari slot for that but I have no confidence jari or shadow actually understand the setup either.

Like, the real difficulty I'm having here is that it feels like he's played two separate games and I can't tell if it's "town but lost it after D1" or "scum and couldn't keep it together after D1"

It doesn't help that D2 was dominated by a red check and D3 was at least partly eaten up by waiting for asmo/Newcomb

(On a related note I kind of want to say asmo not posting much when everyone's outright saying they're having trouble reading him feels scummy, like hoping the uncertainty will save him? tbh I just really hate trying to work out lowposter alignments >_>)

Yeah. I don't actually think his day 2 activity was very meaningful because he didn't really drop off any more than anyone else did but it is slightly worrying that he hasn't posted at all since early this morning. I'm not sure if RL is factoring in? He mentioned day 1 a couple times how much free time he had, not sure if that changed or how much that actually had to do with him being around all the time at that point.

I think I'm also slightly worried that because he was so town on day 1 that any kind of a step off from that is going to feel really stark and it may not actually be indicative of anything except our expectations being set too high? I don't actually know how to tell the difference between town dropoff and scum dropoff from him. I do know his postcount in Princess went like 40->20->10->1 so if he has the same kind of trajectory here I feel like that could be a pretty good sign that he's mafia. Kind of goes back to what I was talking about re: his alignment becoming more obvious over time I think.

I generally don't have too big an issue getting a read on lowposters, as long as they're actually talking about their reads and pushing their worlds in some shape or form.

 

Yeah, dC is deciding the lynch 100% of the time.
