If nothing else the latest interlude confirms that Potato Nose is not afraid to shake things up, unlike most Worm authors. Goddamn that's one hell of a body count.

Yeah that was a decent body count. I wonder how he's going to transition from there. Meanwhile spurt is making flex seal out of chewing gum. I really would have liked to see him tank an endbringer.

I think he'd still just pop like a balloon at this point. He should be ready to face the next endbringer head on at his current rate of progression.

Sometimes I get angsty at the update format for this. Sometimes 1 and 2k updates leave something to be desired. Especially when you get interlude updates and I'm just more interested in the MC's frame of mind.

This just updated again for anyone that's still following it. Apparently he's gotten some more cash from Patreon and a new phone from someone on the forums and a new phone plan so he's back to writing.

Newest couple updates feature the fallout of Cauldron killing a cape and framing him for the murder because you know, that makes total sense in the world of Worm.

While all Contessa events are contrived by default, I can't particularly hold it against him. Especially, as there's some wiggle room. We know Spurt is not entirely predictable and the end results might be quite 'off-path'.

I'm glad it's back, don't get me wrong, but I think the real test is how it will handle the post Endbringer Slaughterhouse 9 escapades. I don't know what purpose they'll serve in A Bad Name. His whole arc has been reconciling his life-experience with the values that society professes are important and what he actually sees when he abuts against it. The 9 are not an indifferent order like Cauldron or the PRT, they're not an institution (or a dark mirror of it, like the Merchant's street gang in this fic). I struggle to see what they will thematically contribute to his arc.

Despite the gamer powers as a hook, it's entirely been Spurt's development that has elevated this for me. This is one of the few fics where I read it the moment it updates.

Yeah I rather like his development. I think it kinda got off rails a bit when he did the whole religious conversation but assume it's the author trying to cover all bases like has been stated. I like it because of the dynamic in which the gamer powers are used, it's almost refreshing compared to some other gamer fics I've read. He's not minmaxing which is surprising for a SB author in general.

Overall I'm indifferent on the merchants and their overall influence, right now I'd see them as a major weakness long term. They kinda have been from the start with everyone's stigma. Spurt didn't ever intend to be bad, just wrong place at the right time sorta moment in how the cards fell and who would influence him and other people's opinions of him long term.
