This event isn't all that interesting to me, servant roster wise. Jalter might be interesting but she's welfare anyway, and Jeanne is... memeable? Her NP was far from impressive if very lulzworthy. Ushi is the only so far I want.

 

Thought I had gotten Mordred. it was Astolfo instead.

Rolled tickets, hoping for Archuria as my only ST Archer is Tristain. Who, don't get me wrong, is way more effective than I thought he would be. Instead, I rolled Punchy-Martha. So she'll be getting upgraded and stuck in the Ruler slot of my FL at some point.

This event's been surprisingly fun, if a bit ridiculous.

 

I went for Archuria with 350 quartz, I got Martha NP 5, I really can't complain.

 

So, is Astolfo worth something? FGO wiki sorts him as one of the worst 4 stars, at least, so there is that. With stheno and lily, wouldn't surprise me if the game just kept supplying me with the worst servants.

 

He's worth less than Medusa, a 3*. She fullfils his niche cheaper and better.

 

Not quite true, you can do part one's Grasslands for a chance to drop Rider gems. It's just not as guaranteed as the Daily.

 

Not quite true. Once Astolfo gains his strengthening, he is better than Medusa in farming. 50% NP battery is pretty damn high tbh.

 

Better farmer than post-strengthened Medusa? Erm... that's a bit of a stretch. More like he finally becomes usable as a farming servant.

If we're talking about 3 turn trash farming, Astolfo's 50% boost vs Medusa's 20% boost is ONLY going to matter if you're one of those unfortunates who don't have kaleidoscope. Their attack stat difference is negligible, so instant NP5 Bellerophon is going to kill trash mobs just as well as instant Hippogriff.

In almost any other situation, Medusa is far far far superior. Without booster CEs, a 3rd skill Medusa will have gained 200%+ NP before Astolfo can even hope to get to 100% because his regular NP gain and crit gen is so horribly, horrendously shit.

The only actual edge Astolfo has over Medusa is the 3 turn evade on his NP, which can make him somewhat useful in stall teams assuming you can actually raise his NP bar quickly enough for it to matter.

 

My definition of farming is to basically clear out easy nodes as quick as possible (preferably 3-4 turns). Usually I do this by spamming NPs such as using 2x Kscope (preferably a superscope) on DD + Waver. Astolfo is better for this particular role tbh. In the situation of having a MLB Kscope you can instantly clear a wave and have a second NP up straight off the bat.

In a budget setting I'd argue that Astolfo is still better due to his skill being able to fill a gauge instantly if you have IE. This is not the case with Medusa. All in all Medusa is potentially gonna require some extra turns to fill her NP gauge. Which makes me prefer Astolfo for consistency. This is of course with the assumption that not everyone has 3x Kscopes in a budget setting.

Of course it also depends on Medusa's NP level. If its only lvl 1, I'd argue that ATK stats would matter as well since Medusa NP1 dmg is low enough that a single NP might not even clear a wave.

 

But the advantage of 3* is NPing them to 5 without much difficulty, just time will allow you that. Meanwhile even getting a 4* is quite hard. I've been playing this game for a year and a month, and I only got 9, 11 with NPs, for example. Meanwhile basically all my nonstory locked 3* are at NP5 or close.

 

Hmm, yeah I guess Medusa all in all is prefered over Astolfo. After a second thought the only scenario's where I would prefer the trap would be cases where you are very likely to have even better options available making the point of Astolfo pretty moot. Whereas Medusa is due to her nature of a budget rider far likely to see action.

 

Spent $20 and got two more Tamamo Lancers and a CE called golden millennium tree.
