The demo apparently ran on the following specs:

    CPU: Intel i7-8700k @3.70 GHz
MB: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-I Gaming
    RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V, 2x16GB, 3000MHz, CL15
    GPU: Geforce GTX 1080 Ti
    SSD: Samsung 960 Pro 512GB M.2 PCIe
    PSU: Corsair SF600 600W

Well, the only thing I've got on that build is a larger power supply.
    CPU: Intel i7-4790 @3.60 GHz
    MB: ASUS Z97-A/USB 3.1
    RAM: CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3 1866
GPU: EVGA Geforce GTX 1060 SSC 6GB
    SSD: SanDisk Z400s 2.5" 256GB SATA III
    PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 750W

The way they're talking about it, though, the game won't be out until (ironically enough) 2020... by which time they'll have boosted the system requirements, and I'll probably still be using this build while praying to win the lottery.

Dealing with cyberpsychosis? I was under the impression they were still in denial, like the majority of the gaming press.

I am still really bummed they went with pure FPS. Not at all what I was expecting and it seems so incredibly lazy for a title so long in the making. Announcement has almost extinguished my hype for the game.

A fusion action/fps system like Last of Us would have been so much better.

11 mins in. This is beyond amazing. Really need to re-watch Ghost in the Shell. Jumping back in now.

I don't know, personally I prefer this. Just seems to really do what they intended.

How is first person view incredibly lazy...?

From an asset perspective alone, first person is waaaaaaaaaay less resource intensive than a third person view. You are essentially ignoring all the physics that goes in to implementing a 3D controllable character.

And you are totally entitled to that. Full FPS has just never been my cup of tea. I despise having my peripherals cut off in a game, and I was really hoping for a Witcher-esque adventure. So yeah. Huge personal let-down.

    I can understand that.

If the player model is actually there and conforming to their engine we're probably going to see a bunch of 3rd person mods shortly after release. So here's hoping.

Personally, I love FPS and Cyberpunk is probably my favorite genre, so this is perfect for me. Hopefully it'll open the door for more decent cyberpunk games. Revitalize Shadowrun too, if only to make them come out with a new tabletop edition... Shadowrun's 5e core rulebook is probably the worst core book I've ever seen.

I guess, but that doesn't make it lazy. Maybe the game just works better with first person.

That reasoning doesn't fly with me. Literally anything you can do in a first person game you can do in a third person game with an intuitive first person or over-shoulder toggle mechanic.

CDPR has stated they went with first person for "immersion" reasons. You're not playing a character (i.e. Geralt), you're playing yourself, and they want you to feel like you're in the game.

And yet I refute that logic, in that for me, being able to see my avatar interact with the game world is the most immersive part of any RPG.

While that's perfectly fair, that doesn't mean CDPR's reasoning is wrong.

Personally, I'm in your camp, insofar as I'd much prefer at the very least a 3rd person option (if fucking Bethesda can manage it, CDPR certainly can). But it's pretty standard industry wisdom that first-person is the way to go for he 'self-insert' type thing they mean when they say "immersion", and there's a pretty strong argument that the limited perspective is the entire point. It narrows the player's focus and helps contribute to a specific kind of atmosphere, which seems to be exactly what CDPR is after.

That you hate it doesn't diminish that; it's just a matter of personal taste conflicting with the developer's goal/vision/whatever.

I fully agree. I'm not saying they're "wrong". I'm explaining why the game (or more specifically the combat) no longer appeals to me personally.

I only take issue with your assertion that it's lazy, which is absurd.

I'm also not always keen on FPS, depends though. Given the Witcher didn't control well though, well, let's just say I'm not expecting Doom or Overwatch here.
