I'm so sick of politics in general and how it's infiltrated every single aspect of our lives. I read to escape that shit, I despise seeing it brought up in fanfic.

 

Oh yeah. I can't remember the last time I slogged through a "political" fic.

 

Do they try to recruit with cookies ? or what ever the British use?
It also usually include reference to the Light Lord (tm) Dumbledore, how family X is either Light, Dark or Grey/Neutral.

I don't remember reading a decent political fic, I do remember one, where Hermione and Harry blew up the Wizengamot or Harry provoking various members to honor duels until he got the desire outcome of membership that is less corrupt and incompetent for his taste.

For those who wonder about the fics, I don't remember the first one.

It's generally stupid, but for some reason people prefer to slap explanations on it to justify the terms instead of just throwing them into the trash where they belong.

Personally went with Unicorn faction for blood purist. Fits symbolism and has good PR.

 

That is actually good choice, I wonder if Dumbledore faction went with his familiar as their symbol, or Dumbledore joined and took over an old faction.
I also assume you write a fic ? is it in the wba or somewhere else ?

Other presentations of various factions is using the top players sure names.
The Black faction (or former Black faction) relating it to Black family and Lucius taking over.
Same with the Potter-Longbottom faction.
Which lead me to the this small pet peeve.

From where the hell the all Potter and Longbottom are allies, blood brothers, good brothers or what ever came from ?
Even in fics that don't use dark and light i stumble on this.

I'm sure back before the SoS some wizards were ennobled. They're certainly not now though.

 

Clearly a sign for his filthy muggle raised heritage, no self respecting wizard raise will choose such title, and that is before we touched his chosen name, Voldemort.

What royalty or leadership titles wizards have?
Grand Sorcerer and Chief Warlock (which isn't clear what the first mean, and how the later is related to their parliament)

Archmage ? (too much D&D? )

Grindelwald didn't use titles, yet people refer to him as dark lord ?
I don't see from where the Lord thing comes from.
It would be more appropriate if his Death Eaters would refer him as their Dark Master, he already treat them as they treat house elves.

I wonder if it is part of inside joke, Riddle trolling/humiliating his followers, follow the champion of British Pureblood cause using a mugglish title and a French name.

O.K, so they're unofficial, but let's face it, those blocs would be considered as such by themselves, their opponents, and any neutrals in the Wizengamot/Ministry; in fact, I see it as three blocs

* Dark/Evil
* Light/Good
* Grey(or Gray)/Neutral

Do you really think Lucius thinks of himself as evil? Are you really that narrow minded and lacking in understanding of motivation? Lucius thinks he is saving the wizarding world, he thinks he is doing good works saving wizarding society from mudblood upstarts who seek to destroy his culture. He doesn't go out and think "I'm a bad person so I'm going to go and do bad things".

 

Whatever absurdity has caused the world to begin sentences with "I mean" has apparently spread to fanfiction. It's appalling to read in a reddit post, it's worse to read in a story. Harry does not, and has made zero inclination to that style of speech.

 

Only Dark/Bad Wizards get foxes like Narcissa, you don't think Lucius joined the Death Eaters for their fashion sense. (something that is clearly important to male Malfoys)

 

Leaving aside your pointless insults, my point was only meant in the most general terms; not ALL Dark wizards are evil, the same as not every Light wizard is a Ministry butt-kissing, Dumble-dork worshipping goody two-shoes...

 

Your usage of Dumble-dork , dark, light or grey shows that you suffer from extreme fanon infestation that you almost forgot canon.
I recommend the following:

1) searching for more in depth analyze of Dumbledore and HP world politics.
2) poking your nose in DLP book club and reading other users comments.
3) re reading the books.

Above methods were part of my long process of regaining canon and purge all fannon stupid cliche, remembering who the characters were really and other important HP world related.

Last note:
Wizard are dumb cliche or lacking common sense, is writing for 2nd grade children, it isn't interesting to read about stupid characters.

 

Dude, I honestly LIKE the term Dumble-dork; I've come to support the belief that Dumbledore really is an M.O.B, ergo, assuming that's true, I don't mind insulting him...

I'll consider re-reading, but things are up in a heap, as we're doing some renovations; most of my stuff is packed away.
