I'm kinda giving up on them being true to the characters of the Cartoon show or Comics. Just generic comics for a show. IF we can accept that, show might be salvageable.

 

Well, it's a hell of an improvement over the first trailer, I'll give it that. Not that it's a high bar to get over, but still.

I'll give it a look I guess, I can't help but try to like anything DC, even though they keep screwing the pooch.

 

Feels like they've swapped a few character traits between Raven and Starfire. I'm going to laugh at people who are pissy that Starfire's actress is black though.

 

Most people I know and have seen online could care less that she’s black. It’s that she’s dressed like a hooker and doesn’t carry Star fires vibe at all

 

I just can't believe they didn't cast John Boehner as Starfire...

Seriously though, it's not the race of the characters that's an issue. It's that to me, Starfire looks like she grew up in a midwestern city, instead of Tamaran. Raven is too emotive. Beast Boy needs a bigger special effects budget. And while Robin actually looked good out of uniform... he didn't look that good in uniform.

 

There's certainly a small portion of people who are upset about that. They're usually quickly shouted at by both the media-police-SJWs and the vast majority of actual fans who are well aware that Starfire is an orange alien, so race simply doesn't matter here.

Most of the legitimate complaints I've seen (and there are many) are from people who are just upset that they made this absolutely gorgeous woman look like this instead of something like this. If the scripts aren't amazing, the production team will have zero justification for such shitty costume and budget choices.

The Witcher cast.

Going by the photo alone I'm not convinced by their Yennefer, but since I'm unfamiliar with the actress, I will wait for the first trailer before forming any opinion about her.

 

Yeah, she seems a bıt young to me but as you say hard to judge before we see some actual footage.

 

Well, it is supposed to be 20 years before Witcher 3, right? I guess I'm not familiar with the lore enough to say whether she ages normally or whatever, but I could see why they'd go younger otherwise.

The girl playing Ciri definitely has the eyes already. Cast looks pretty cool to me.

 

I think she has the right general look. But yeah, both Ciri and Yen actresses seem like total unknowns. Probably a necessity given Cavil's likely skyhigh paycheck.

She doesn't age normally no. She's like 100 in the bulk of the series.

 

Very much approve of the cast. Both actresses have the bone structure that fans of the game will recognize, and that's a great step since the expected demographic is fans of the games, especially since they include book fans but also far outnumber them. Cavill is the only question mark, but I hope that a make-up artist does good work there. I trust Cavill as an actor.

 

I'm curious what makeup will they go for with Yennefer, since she seems a little too… plain(?), I guess? Age is not a problem, her looks are a product of magic after all, but I also imagine her stunningly looking (and purple-eyed W3 Yen was very interesting as well).

Calanthe is superb though, she definitely has the "Lioness of Cintra" in her eyes.

 

Aye, all of the sorceresses have magicked themself to look young and beautiful. If I remember correctly Yen was a hunchback before she started using magic to pretty herself up. Geralt would be in early to mid eighties in this. Vesemir should be somewhere in the three hundreds. Unsure if age will really be touched on unless it's used as a plot point for something.

 

So decided to watch Titans premiere.

It was....not bad. Nothing groundbreaking, but better than I expected considering the trailers.

Acting is better than CW so far and its no grittier than Daredevil.

All in all, I give it a 3.5/5.

Don't expect it to be anything like the cartoon and you should be fine. It definitely evolves more from the comics than the cartoon.

Starfire is still very odd.

Raven is more innocent teen than caustic goth.

Its obvious that the Raven/Robin interactions are going to be the highlight/focus of the show.

 

Yeah. It wasn't awful. I'll tune in next week at least.

I don't know what the hell they're doing with Starfire.
