Yeah I used it in jest. It seems like the type of fic that likes to buff up the Weasley twins into epic prank meme warriors also likes to refer to Tom as Moldyshorts.

Can't say I've heard Dumbledork before. These things are from the same class of shit-tier name calling as Obummer or Drumpf.

By that standard, you should also consider My Immortal, 30 H's, and Hogwarts School of Prayer and Miracles as pranks, in which case we'd need a vote. Possible to include other candidates: Methods of Ratio-nality, the Cursed Child, Order of the Phoenix (the fanfiction that circulated before the release of book 5), and the canon epilogue.

I've come across many names for the headmaster of Hogwarts. The stupidest of these include Dumbledork, Dumblewhore Dumbdore(they clearly stopped trying at this point), manipulative old goat, goatfucker(What's up with angstfic!Dumbledore and goats), goathead, old man(Sure showed Dumbledore there!) .

There was one fic which had an le ebiN PRANK XDDD where Dumbledore got turned into a literal goat(admittedly it was a truth or dare fic so I don't know what I was expecting but still).

You know that's actually not that bad of an idea. When my work ages past its time and the meta decides it hates all the then-tired tropes and likes magical trunks again, I'll just tell everyone they were really long winded prank.

I thought magical trunks were just a meme like custom wands made from elder wood with a core made from dementor cloak AND basilisk venom .

It depends on how soon you got started. Apparently most everyone here's been on since like 2005 when they were all gushing over Harry/Voldemort slash or at least the 2011 era when putting magical trunks inside other magical trunks (TRUNK-CEPTION! ROFL!) was considered an interesting way of using the materials the characters had available to them, demonstrating a willingness to avoid plot holes, which objectively it still is, the readership just got tired of reading it. It became a meme after that. Nobody really discussed the possible limits of the undetectable extension charm when the idea was popular.

I complained about a lack of agency in Peggy Sue stories a few days ago and I now feel I can declare ASoIaF to be riddled with them.

If a character has the money and/or know-how, it's a no-brainer to own an expanded trunk. I was always of the opinion that magical trunks were a perfectly acceptable (and canon-friendly) addition to a story, given what we saw of Moody's trunk in GoF.

Of course, that doesn't include ridiculous time-dilation rooms in a trunk that let you spend a hundred years training in said trunk without aging or, you know, going insane from lack of human companionship, which is absurd. Then again, is that much worse than the buttfucking JK allowed to be dealt to her own time travel rules in Cursed Child?

I was writing something, back in the day, that involved Harry expanding the rooms inside a space ship, and I kept going back and forth on what would be a conservative and believable amount to expand them by; I didn't want to be greedy. Given what we see of Newt's tiny suitcase in Fantastic Beasts, though, I was worried over nothing. I wasn't even going close to as big as they went in that movie, and they were starting with little more than a briefcase.

Of course, the other reason I shouldn't have sweated it was because I was never going to finish/publish it anyway...

One of the filmmakers probably went from "author didn't define a limit" to "author defined no limit".

Wouldn't a lot of that stuff have been laid down in the screenplay? JKR wrote that herself.

What, if anything, is the difference between a "Peggy Sue", and a "Mary Sue"...?

Yeah, they're not related, at all.

Yes but, in the hands of the right wrong author, they certainly can be and have been. :D For better or worse.

I suppose it is mildly amusing that to the uninitiated, with all of the "Sues" that are a subset of the Mary Sue, Peggy Sue sounds like it should be related to them, but isn't. Just the results of two different stories, one of which originated a term for a type of character, the other which established a term for a type of plot.

"Peggy Sue" is a song by Buddy Holly. Some people confuse this with the term "Mary Sue" which refers to a character without flaws.

Judging by what @Heather Sinclair posted, it seems that a 'Peggy Sue' is any character who gets a do-over via time travel, while keeping the knowledge they already had...

Pretty much. Backwards with Purpose is probably the archetypal example we've got in this fandom.

Is that the one where it's Ginny who goes back, or am I thinking of some other author...?

The word "pup" triggers me so badly I can't stand to see it in any story. I nearly gagged just a moment ago seeing a character in an aSoIaF story refer to Arya as "pup".
