I guess first I'd recommend just reading the rules. They're pretty straightforward. I didn't have many mechanics/setup-related question in my first game, but I was already sold on Witchhunt by that point so. :V

I'd also strongly (!!!) recommend avoiding the temptation to hint at your role, or rely on your role to save you should you get run up. No matter how tempting it is. It's better to die silently (if your role isn't confirmable) than let the coven know which roles are dead, or risk them PoE'ing who you are. I think roles that should claim are Leeroy, Judge, DoB, and maybe Priest? And even then all you should say is "I am one of these four roles" when someone declares intent to hammer.

A new QT thread is created for dead players after every lynch, which means players can lie about or withhold info from previous chats. This is usually done to keep any dead Witches in the dark about town role discussions, since dead scum also influence the Angel protection. I dunno why I'm mentioning this, it was just something that confused me a bit the first time I noticed it.

Sometimes people get confused about Soft/Hard lynch. Soft lynch means that you need # votes *by the time deadline hits* for a player to be lynched. A Hard lynch requires more votes than a Soft lynch and *immediately* ends the Day, regardless of how much time there is left until the deadline.

And uh. Yeah it's basically regular mafia, but 1) we vote to give someone an extra vote on Day 1, 2) the coven can try and guess people's roles to kill more than one player per Night, and 3) there's a /lot/ more reading between the lines than usual because town is trying to secretly pool its information and the coven is trying to find these hints to Soup everyone.

I figure since Day 1 is extra long people can just use it as Q&A time. Or if they get in here before the game starts, they can ask more specific questions.
