Tbh Miner's post was equally stupid. A stupid statement will get a stupid response. Also, there's no need to be that guy.

Got quite fat on it, actually. But thanks for caring.

Fireworks was released in the US a few days ago. Not sure if/how many if you guys have seen it, but I'm thinking of watching it this weekend. Is there anyone who felt strongly about the movie enough to potentially sway my decision either way?

    Any interesting isekai anime?

I've already seen Overlord, KonoSuba, Tanya the Evil, Re;Zero, GATE, No Game No Life, Reincarnated as a Slime.

Log Horizon is a pretty good one. There are positives and negatives to the show, but I think it takes the most realistic look at a "Trapped in a different world" trope than most dp. A lot of it is about how a society would develop in the situation they find themselves in.

Drifters: historical figures sent to a fantasy world to fight an incoming demon horde led by other historical figures.
Grimgar took some time for me to get into, but ended up quite nice IIRC

The "sent in a video game" trope is basically the same principle so you can try these if you haven't already :
SAO, a classical even though it has its faults (it isn't worse than some of those on your list, IMO)
Log horizon, that I personnally prefer, more focused on politics than fights and harem-building

I'd suggest checking out 'in another world with my smartphone' or whatever that one was called - as a hilariously bad example of everything trashy in this genre. It's almost satirical.

Oh yes. I almost lost it when the MC had tea with god and then fashioned himself a fucking gunblade. If you watch it with the mindset "this shit is just a parody of the Isekai tropes" it's great. Terrible, yes, but great.

Grimgar is somewhat different from the usual isekai, but it's great and well worth the watch - the story is strong, and the whole thing has a wonderful feel and uniquely beautiful aesthetic to it.

Just try it? It's anime. You won't lose anything by watching a couple of 25-minute episodes, mate.

    You're probably right.

I think I'm more afraid of getting sucked in than being disappointed to be quite honest.

    Fucking hell.

Sound Euphonium brought back way too many memories from high school, and I'm sad to look back on how much I've left behind.

So, Miner and I have been watching anime. Generally, we each choose one show and watch one episode of each at a time. This run, Miner picked A Place Further Than The Universe, and I chose Mob Psycho 100 (season one).

    Thoughts:

I didn't understand A Place Further Than The Universe (Universe). I was very interested going into it as I heard so many good things about it, but it's just slice of life, and that's not my genre at all. I couldn't connect with the characters, and I found them annoying. There was no escapism either, as Antarctica to me is the most boring place anyone could possibly choose to go. I was pretty underwhelmed, but unlike Violet Evergarden, which I found ridiculous, Universe is an alright show that executes the things it wanted to do; they were just not things I'm interested in, and that's okay. 4.5/10.

Mob Psycho 100 was good. The humor was mostly just okay for me, but I really took to the characters and the ideas it brought up. Action was great, music was great. I had a good time and I'm looking forward devouring season two this weekend. 8.5/10.

Mob Psycho season 2 has been better than season 1, in my opinion.
    You're in for a treat.

The feels, character development, and action are top tier.
And yeah, the sound team for Mob Psycho is amazing. Still not sure how they managed to use a kazoo to make for an epic theme, lol.
