If this ends up being the first video game movie that's actually good, I'll be like wut.

Although I maintain that Prince of Persia is okay.

Huh, I totally forgot about Alicia Croft. It was aight. Warcraft... should've been entirely computer animated. Orcs looked unreal. Humans looked fucken goofy in that huge armor. Also Paula Patton's teeth.

Unpopular opinion: I really enjoyed that movie.

The mario movie was great in a "so bad it's good" way. It was ridiculous and cheesy, with bad acting and worse writing and essentially nothing to do with the actual games other than the name, but it was still thoroughly entertaining. It just requires you to turn your brain off.

Just got back from this, and despite only having a very surface, pop culture level of interest and knowledge of wrestling (IE, I know who the Rock is, and John Cena to a lesser extent), I loved it. Great fun, lots of good performances, and really heartwarming. Well worth a watch.

Paige's RL story is very, very interesting and entertaining, but also very depressing. The Rock decided he would like to end in a happier note, and he loved the documentary about Paige and her family, so they end before the real highs and lows. Good stuff though.

Another Trailer for Tolkien. It seems they are focusing more on his early life which is slightly disappointing. Tolkien and Lewis's friendship always fascinated me more, but it looks like a good movie to take the fiance too...

I'm looking forward to Tolkien for sure. It was amusing seeing that second trailer and realizing I've been pronouncing his name incorrectly for the last 25 years. "Toll-key-en" I always thought.

Has anyone seen the trailers for Brightburn? The superhero movie I didn't know I was waiting for. Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be disappointing like Hancock was.

Man of Steel but as a horror movie? James Gunn is solid usually so I'm tentatively interested.

Proper trailer for the live-action Aladdin. I'm actually feeling it this time, minor complaints about Jafar aside(I do think he has the right voice).

This doesn’t look as bad as I was expecting.

    Edit: Ninjaed.

But agree with zenzao. Jafar is a little underwhelming but I like everything else

I think that people who pay to see Disney's live action remakes are the movie equivalent of people who buy EA games.

In Disney's defense, the live action remakes are actually good.

It's more like buying remakes/remasters of games than the sorry stuff EA puts out.

If you put the original animated version and the live-action version in front of me for any of these movies, I'd pick the animated version.

I don't think anyone would say they are 'better' than the original animated films (except for maybe Maleficent -- Sleeping Beauty is such a snoozefest -- pun intended -- but that is more of a retelling than a remake). That said, not being as good as the original doesn't disqualify them from being quality, fun movies. Jungle Book was fantastic. To a lesser degree, Beauty & the Beast was quite good as well. Cinderella and Alice, eh. Only okay.

Hey that looked pretty solid. And guess what? Will Smith's genie looks pretty great so far.

I was in the camp that hated the Will Smith genie straight up. Based on this I have decided not to judge a book by its cover, but by its... broader cover?

It does look solid. I'll theatre this one.
