I finally bought my tickets today. The theater is *empty* friday morning which I'm taking full advantage of.

 

Ahh man, that's nice to be able to do. Got tix for the 8:20pm show in Bremerton, even though I could have had almost any time at the one 3 blocks from my house, but the Brem one has reserved seats.

 

Hmm... Do I really want to use my last night in Athens to watch this? Probably not... Does come out in Germany the day I land though, probably won't have the energy to go out after a plane ride...

Captain Marvel passed 1bln at the box office.

I think Endgame has a real shot to mop the floor with The Force Awakens.

 

Considering Infinity War basically tied with TFA, this is about as bold a prediction as saying that it'll rain in England in any given week.

 

On one hand, fair enough. On the other, IW was still behind TFA by millions. Decimal points are easy to miss when we're in the billions. And I didn't say Endgame is just gonna make more money than TFA, I said smash. IIRC I said in the Nostradamus thread for 2019 2,3 bln.

To be equally fair: I don't think 22 million is that much of a relevant number when that's 1.1 % (or so) of the total amount. At that point, you're practically arguing pocket change. (Or the equivalent thereof.)

The release date in Germany is the 24th as well. (What’s up with that, btw? If the A-list films don’t get a blanket global release date, we are usually a few days early.) Should be amusing watching all the Americans on the interwebs avoid spoilers for 48 hours.

 

Am I the only one who isn't going to see it on opening night? I'm just going to wait a few days and see it on the first Monday afternoon, when it'll be easy to get a ticket and the theater will be relatively empty.

 

You are not.

But I'm not currently planning to see it at all, so not sure how applicable that is. I'm just totally burned out on Marvel movies and can't muster the energy to give a shit that the MCU is finally embracing the most idiotic elements of the comics industry (namely, retcons in the name of the status quo).

 

I'm not sure it will be, even if you waited for a whole week. My brother and I watched Captain Marvel 2 weeks after opening night and the theater was relatively packed for a B list Marvel movie.

Given that there will be plenty of people coming in for a rewatch and plenty more who thought the same thing as you, the theaters will still probably be packed. Honestly, watching it on opening night is worth the stress of finding a ticket and dealing with a very packed theater, IMO, if only so you can avoid having it spoiled to you by a friend or coworker.
