Earlier GD claims are the sacrifice of some town value (outed GD = easy kill, obviously) to eliminate the possibility of Witches constructing a favorable narrative when info dumping later in the game. Basically it forces them to commit to to something immediately instead of selecting whatever they think is best later on.

 

I will legit be excited if someone else has concrete thoughts about Dels being a witch though.
