I really love this story. While I know people at this site doesn't like SI that much, please give it a chance, you won't regret it. It may start somewhat rocky and rushed but it's get better.

The magic system of this world is good. This fic has some of most creative and amazing fights I ever read in fan fiction. It also goes deep in magic theories.

There are also some very interesting character intractions.

Overall I give this story 5/5.

 

Ugh. Cut 75% of the worthless magibabble and it'd immeduately get a 4-4.5/5 from me. As is I'd rate it 3.5

Woah you're fast. There is like, 260k words. Well I know there is lot Magical theories in this story and that's what I love about it. I guess, I really like Magic theories and discovering new Magic. But it's alright, everybody has different tastes and if you don't like it, it's like, you know, just your opinion dude.

 

I lasted four paragraphs.

I like fics with magical theory. But better a fic with no magical theory than a fic with shitty magical theory.

 

While not cannon friendly, you can't fault him for interesting and original take on Magic.

 

I can, however, fault him for a shit take on magic that massively nerfs wizards.

 

I wouldn't call it shit because I really like it. It may seem weak and two dimensional but its just the surface, as this fic progress more and more complex magic is revealed.

 

1. The story limits the amount of time wizards can cast magic for.

2. The story limits the things that magic can achieve by reference to natural forces rather than magical law.

3. The story limits the geographical areas in which wizards can exercise their (full) powers.

All three of these serve the ultimate role of making wizards significantly weaker compared to Muggles. Any one of them would be sufficient to make me drop a fic for Mugglewank reasons. All three of them together is a crime against fanfiction.

Complex Mugglewank is still Mugglewank.

Edit: out of curiosity I did a skim read. The inevitable section about how Muggle weapons can overcome magic did not take long to find (beginning of chapter 2).

 

*Sigh*, it seems like you really hate it and I can't do anything about that but please believe me, this fic isn't mugglewank. I have read it up to date and there are spells and Magic in future that shows how powerful these wizards are. Please give it a try.

Taure, you're like, judging a 260k words story by first two chapters. What can I say?

 

• You go to a restaurant with 3 Michelin stars.
• During the aperitif, the waiter takes a handful of dog shit and smears it in your face.
• You have to eat the meal with the dog shit on your face.

Are you going to enjoy the meal? No matter how well the food is cooked, has the meal not been ruined?

And in this case, I highly doubt the meal to follow is well cooked.

Sadly no, and while I may seem defensive, this fic is like a living entity to me, I have spend lots of time with it and wanted others to give it a chance. In all my replies I try to be polite, as much as I can, and at the risk of sounding like masochist, I really enjoyed this discussion. So, I apologise if I offended any of you.

 

I did not last past chapter two.

Two biggest problems: First being the constant annoying and unnecessary internal monologue weighed down by the aforementioned magi-babble. Not only does it run completely counter canon, as has been said above, but it's also far too rapid fire to actually take in and process. Overall effect being that of someone trying to convince you the earth is flat but constantly throwing in words in Japanese.

And second the 59 step plan the OC instantly pulls out of his ass. Which ruined any interest I had in reading about this character and how exactly he would pivot the deatheaters to being just a run of the mill criminal organisation. Which now that I think about it isn't actually that interesting in the first place.

Also Lily joining Voldemort is a bit Ehhh.

 

In the beginning author doesn't have a clear writing style, but after chapter 10 it's really neat.
