Just so long as it's not some bullshit 'everyone says I'm like my father, but I never really knew my father...' wank where she first rebels against his legacy then comes to understand his sacrifice through her own arc of making the right choice over the easy one.

I'd much rather a 'fuck yeah I'm Iron Man's daughter, he was not only a great man but a wonderful father' story.

 

Talking about Tony's family. What ever happened to Pepper being human torch?

Edit: Apparently an older version of Morgan Stark was cast to serve as the person who appears to Tony in the metaphysical plane / internal reflection biz post-snap. Katherine Langford, some golden globe nominated actress I've never heard of, actually filmed the scene, but the whole thing was cut because it was overly-complicating. This... is not insignificant.

 

I knew Langford was scheduled to appear (my cinema’s complimentary film magazine even printed a full-page picture of her with a byline announcing that she‘d be in Endgame), but I think people noticed quite quickly she wasn‘t in the final cut. Good to see that mystery has been solved. Not gonna lie, though, I‘d have love to see that scene.

Speaking of people I didn‘t notice in the final cut, did Cobie Smulders actually make an appearance? I know she got a mention during the credits (even got her own solo card) but I can‘t recall ever seeing her. Maybe I missed her at Tony‘s funeral?

 

I want a director cut with this scene. I totally missed a juxtaposition of Tony's sacrifice for his daughter and Thanos' sacrifice of his daughter.

 

Pretty sure she was at the funeral, yeah.

I tried to go and see the film again yesterday, but every showing at my local was fully booked. Admittedly on a bank holiday, but even so, impressive given its sales so far.

I was just surprised that the kid from IM3 was there as well.

 

I didn't recognize him at first, and was puzzled, but then someone in my theater shouted "OH HEY IT'S THAT KID." I have never been appreciative of people yelling at the screen in a movie theater before. It was a very strange feeling.

 

Yeah, some people might call it heavy handed but until I read your comment, I didn't even see the parallels between Thanos and Tony and their daughters. Though why they can't use the existing actress for Morgan rather than Langford I don't really get?

Same with how Banner didn't see anyone (I was hopping to see Natasha but with the hairstyle she had in AOU).

I'm hoping there's a Direct Cut that's a stupid length like 3 and a half hours that has these extra bits.

 

Endgame, like LOTR, is a movie that is worth sitting through a 3.5 hr (heck 4 hour) director's cut.

 

That directly ties in to the discussion we were having about doing something with Morgan's character and why casting an aged up version is significant. Instead of just taking the simple route and using the little girl, they went out of their way to get not only an aged up actress, but someone with legitimate acting creds. I think they could have been angling to introduce us to this apparently great actress to take over the role of Morgan in phase 4+.

 

Ah, okay, I thought you meant not insignificant in that some behind the scenes drama might have happened to have her cut out of the movie.

How would an older version of her work? The MCU just got out of a timeskip so I'm not sure if they'd do another one.

 

If they make an Ironheart TV series for D+, I could see the show simply being set several years in the future. I am picturing a Riri Williams 'cobbles together an Iron Man suit' from scraps, but then college age Morgan Stark shows up to her door and does the hand to shoulder knighthood thing. "Well congrats. You're an Avenger now."

 

If not Ironheart, they could retool the Young Avengers to make Morgan a gender bent Iron Lad.

The MCU is clearly gearing up for the Young Avengers with Cassie.
