I will never understand people who enjoy horror movies like this. I get freaked just from the trailer...

Fuark, my body is ready. That old lady, my god the acting, she was hitting some uncanny valley vibes... I'm actually so excited for this movie. Stories are about feeling emotions, usually through attachment to the protagonist but that pit in your stomach that horror/thrillers evoke can only be experienced one way, safely at least.

It's normally the kind of film that I would cheerfully ignore, but I did end up seeing the first part, and it was pretty good, so...maybe?

Good horror is especially hard to find these days, it's important to support it when it does. Just to show Hollywood that there's profit if you do things right. Vote with your wallet, only thing they listen to.

The first one was not good horror in any sense, it was a lot of loud noises and jump scares that got in the way of some great child actors doing a discount stand by me movie.

Eh..I'm not a fan of horror movies. On an ethical level. Most of them speak to the base passions of fear and morbidness that Plato and other philosophers argued cultivates an appetite within a populace for shallow pleasures. The appetite for shallow pleasures then gives way to an uneducated/irrational populace.

Few horror movies inspire a person to be greater or better than what they are. For what it's worth, I'm against most romcoms, popcorn action flicks for the same reason.

I don't think I've wanted DLP to have a laugh react before now, but damn that last post is begging for one.

The first one was technically categorised as drama/mystery. Chapter 2, mystery/horror. So I'm hoping for more than a handful of horror scenes. The trailer sold me on the horror component, though. I'll agree that I wasn't scared during the first chapter but it built tensions well overall and had some superb cinematography from memory. Anyway, each to their own.

Laugh reacts will just give way to tyrany of the majority and then DLP shall truly be lost...

I mean can you come up with a film that does?
If I've seen one, I don't remember it. The very idea of people paying to be informed of what's expected of them makes little sense.

I’ve never really understood the desire to shove someone into a locker until right now.

    Hundreds

    Dead Poet’s Society
    Schindlers List
    Lord of the Rings
    The Lion King
    Free State of Joneses
    Glory
    Gladiator
    Avengers

Etc. It’s not about being told “you do this.”

It’s about being inspired to be good. It’s about cultivating an appetite for the good.

People don’t like being told their entertainment isn’t beneficial for them.

Literally any inspirational movie, like the Avenger series. People aren't watching them to be told what's expected of them but for fun, which is what movies are for, entertainment.

No idea what arthellion is going on about though

I’d argue movies are today’s art form and art has an ethical responsibility to be beneficial for society. That’s not really an absurd claim.

It part 1 scared the hell out of me while I was watching it, although by the time I got home I'd got over it completely. And I was tilting my phone away during the first bit of the trailer, so seems likely this one will do the same.
