So, there's news that you can finish the whole game without killing anyone. I just hope it's not only stealth and hacking, but also persuasion. I always love RPGs that let me solve things just by clever dialogue.

 

That would be pretty great. It might well mean that this is the ultimate RPG some CDPR fanboys (myself included) sincerely hoped it would be: all the breadth of choices that games like New Vegas give you, with all the depth and nuance of what few choices you had in The Witcher 3, and that Bethesda didn't give Obsidian Entertainment the time or money to truly deliver on in New Vegas. Though they still did a spectacular job with the limited time and resources they had.

I found it to be rather underwhelming. It didn't really strike me as something worthy of all the hype build up around this year's gameplay footage from E3. And all in all, it felt more like an extended trailer rather than proper showing of gameplay footage.

 

Witcher 3 doesn't have a good game play too. I don't think hype for this game comes from gameplay expectations.

No Witcher games had good combat. Witcher 1 was especially bad at that. Combat was sometimes barely bearable, sometimes decent but it was never main strength of the series. They are still awesome games though.

 

Like you're wrong though. The Witcher 3's combat is legitimately great; engaging without being overwhelming, rewards player preparation and knowledge (almost like an actual Witcher), easy to learn but hard to master. The first two games combat were pretty crappy though.

 

Agreed, In fact this gameplay "deep dive" had the effect of considerably diminishing my Hype for the game. Now I feel like I no longer care about new content being shown for the game. Might even forget about it until the reviews starting coming out.

 

@deyas Nothing hard to master about maxing all sword and damage stuff, using Quen once and then slicing heads off. That's the highest dps build and its piss easy to use. Zero preparation needed unless Death March difficulty and even then it can be avoided.

Combat in the witcher 3 is repetitive with brief bursts of excitement, unless you actively avoid the simplest and most effective build, and that's okay.

 

Hard disagree. This was highlighted because Bloodborne came out close to W3. Going from BB to W3 was the action/rpg equivalent of going from Little Big Planet to Mario...
